Hive Townhouse

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. Our room was amazing. The small details were perfect. I manage in hospitality so really appreciate the care and passion. Dinner in the evening was relaxed and simple. Breakfast likewise. Thank you so much. We will return.

I absolutely loved staying here. We had a room on the first floor with the tub. The en suite was superb, really appreciated the complimentary drinks, snacks and milk. And the views though rather ruined by the work around the harbour, were otherwise lovely. In the morning there was a great choice of breakfast in the Hive opposite and we took advantage of our free ice cream voucher! There was just one small complaint which almost caused me to make the review to four stars. The keys are picked up from The Hive Restaurant and when we arrived we were very kindly showed to our room. When we left the following day. we handed the keys back to a lady in The Hive who hardly looked up as I gave the keys to her and I would have at least expected to be asked how my stay was. Just for context, the restaurant was not busy. That took the shine off what would would otherwise have been a perfect stay.

I generally book direct with properties so they are not paying the third party fees. And usually the properties provide an incentive to book direct and often offer a best rate guarantee. I reserved a room here many months ago and pre-paid. Only to arrive and find the room we are in is now 60 pounds less on their website. And booking has one on a lower floor for half our cost—130 less! The rooms are yes very nice but that is a huge difference. Not to mention there is now a construction site notice that was not there when I booked. If they dropped prices due to this it should have applied to my booking as well. So the building was surrounded by metal fencing and not as pictured which of course is not their fault. Still I paid a big premium for this and property was not willing to make any price adjustment. They just said next time in the area maybe I could get a last minute lower rate. So suggesting this advice to others so you don’t feel ripped off. In this case the third party site may be the best value.

From the second you walk through the front door everything is thought of from the smell to the sockets which match the decor. The luxury is continued though out the hallways and stair up to the rooms, we stayed in the Vulcan room - views over the harbour and a cooper bath to soak up the views - literally! The room had everything you could think of: coffee (nespesso machine and pods) teas, a fridge with milk, water and some alcoholic refreshments if you fancy complimentary and some snacks to accompany. There was a GHD hairdryer, clothes steamer and charger should you forget your own. The bathroom has a spa like and quality toiletries and high end finish. We ate an evening meal which we could not fault the quality, service and cost. Highly recommend and will be back - perfect restful retreat in a beautiful setting. Diolch

My husband and I booked a last minute few days away to belatedly celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We love the west coast of Wales and in the past we’ve regularly gone to Newport (which we LOVE) but fancied a change so, having researched places to stay in west Wales, I landed on the Hive Townhouse in Aberaeron and it really did not disappoint! Parking was easy, just over the road from the hotel. The room ( middle floor, Belle Vue) was reasonably large, spotlessly clean and super comfy and exceeded our expectations. A long soak in the big copper bath in the corner of the room was a real treat after a day exploring the coast. Complimentary cocktails/beer, ice creams and tea/coffee were a super treat. The TV and sound system were good and we noticed that the rooms were well soundproofed. The toiletries were high quality as were the fixtures and fittings. They even included charging cables for phones and iPads which was a thoughtful touch. All the staff were friendly and engaging and the location, right on the harbour-front is superb (although repair/restoration work is currently underway - which we were warned about before we booked). Breakfast at the Hive restaurant over the road was delicious too, as was the freebie honey ice cream. A perfect place to stay and simply relax, I can’t wait to visit again - highly recommend!

A lovely stay in a lovely room with some great little extras making our stay perfect. Very high spec bathroom. Whole place was immaculate. We’ve stayed in a lot of places and this is one of the best. Very welcoming staff at breakfast and food was excellent. We also ate there in the evening one of the nights and it was lovely. Would definitely return.
