Belvilla Aberdeen Bridge of Don Sea VIew - Ex Holiday Inn Express

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. It is a scam hotel run by a scam company. It is NOT a Holiday Inn Express hotel but lets you think it is. I had chosen this hotel as I have previously stayed at Holiday Inn Express before so thought I knew what to expect- this was by far one of the worst and most alarming experiences I've had in a hotel. No air conditioning, so rooms are heated with oil-filled heaters. In the first room, this had been left on fully for some time so that the room was unbearably hot, and I was left dripping in sweat and struggling to breathe due to the heat and stuffiness. Clearly previous occupants had struggled with this in this room as it was the only one where a desk fan had been provided. The windows do not open at all - apparently for safety reasons?! The desk fan provided was very noisy and served to only recirculate the hot air. This meant I could not sleep. I was then allocated a second room but this had not been serviced and had dirty underwear in the shower room! I was then given a third room but the hairdryer went on fire in my hand as soon as I switched it on. I had nearly burned my hair and scalp. I managed to get the flames out, but there was black acrid smoke, which surprisingly did not set the smoke alarm off. This suggests that the smoke alarm does not work and given the state of the other electrics, I suspect this is the case. The hairdryer was replaced, but the workman's tools were left in the room along with a can of air freshener. The room had not been serviced or cleaned . My key card did not work and every time I left the room, I had to go back to the reception desk to get it reset. This was also inconvenient and annoying. When I asked to make a complaint at the time of my stay, I was advised that customer services would contact me- they did not. I asked for the number for customer services and was given an incorrect number that was the number for a civil engineering company. I eventually managed in contact the hotel customer service and while they apologised and agreed to refund my money, I have still to receive this over a month later despite their promises to refund within 7-14 days. I think that they are therefore a scam company and suspect I will not get my money back. This a a dangerous hotel, not safe, especially the electrics, and would definitely not recommend it.

Clean and simple hotel. We stayed here end of March 2025, pleasantly surprised with how nice the hotel was for the price of our stay. Check in was quick and easy, reception area was clean and inviting. Our room was easy to find. Room itself was nice, spacious and clean with the sofa bed already made up for us. Bathroom was clean with nice selection of toiletries available. Hotel is still branded as Holiday inn express but the sat nav took us straight to it. No food or drink service within the hotel but there is a KFC, McDonalds and a Starbucks right across the road. We also asked for extra pillows which were brought up to our room within 5 minutes of asking for them. Parking for the night was £5 but for the price of the overnight I wasn’t that bothered. Would definitely rebook if we’re back in the area again.
