Akotika Boutique

In the heart of the old city of Acre, this boutique hotel offers a super comfortable suites with an amazing view to the Mediterranean sea. The suite is very specious, clean and pleasant. The suite with the balcony is highly recommended. The breakfast by chef Salah is fresh and amazing.

We stayed for one night and had the chance of being upgraded to the romantic suite. It was such a great surprise, this room was truly the most beautiful room I ever slept in. It was made with a lot of taste, has a huge bath in it and even a waterfall!! You are in the middle of the old city and you are able to really feel the vibe of the city within the room thanks to its beautiful stone walls. This is our second stay here and the reason we keep coming back is the outstanding quality of the rooms, food and staff. Oh, and the killer views of the sea don’t hurt either. Rooms are accessed via a maze of alleys and courtyards and if narrow stairs aren’t your thing, let them know well ahead. The rooftop breakfast is fantastic, and the same spot is a lovely nightclub after hours. The owner and staff are quick to recommend restaurants and activities and go out of their way to accommodate special requests.

Don’t let the outside fool you! Enter the doors into a cool lobby and the warm greeting is perfect after a long day. The hotel is an amalgamation of adjacent decrepit looking buildings adjacent to the west sea wall. There is free parking in a public lot just down the street - it is crowded so getting a parking spot requires some luck. Our room overlooking the water was perfect - large, cool and contemporary. Our small balcony was perfect to watch the sunset. If you have trouble with stairs, this is NOT the place for you as there is no elevator and there are steep stairs throughout - for us not a problem. Breakfast in the roof top lounge is a wonderful fresh Israeli buffet. Everything is delicious especially the eggplant and hummus dips. Freshly cooked eggs are available. The location is great - just head into one of the alleys that wind through the city: you will eventually find your way back. Hotel manager gave us helpful suggestions for restaurants - if you mention the hotel you will get a 10% discount. Our bedroom had a freestanding bath tub for two - perfect way to end a busy hot day, Not inexpensive but certainly worth it for us.

There are positives and negatives. On the plus side, our room was very nice, if a bit oddly decorated (e.g., a bathtub in the middle of the room, and the bathroom had a chandelier), it is extremely convenient to Old Akko, and there is a lovely rooftop area for breakfast. But there are significant downsides as well. First, the Akotika is not so much a hotel as an airbnb. The front desk is open only from 8:30 a.m. to 7 at night. Second, no elevators, and the stairways to the rooms and the rooftop are very steep. Third, the shower in our room did not appear to have been cleaned. Also, the surroundings are not great. The hotel is next to a collapsing, abandoned building, and to get to your room after the front desk closes, you have to go through a garbage-strewn alley in the back. Finally, and most importantly, parking, or lack thereof. The Akotika does not have its own parking, and the person at the front desk was not very helpful. There is a public lot a few minutes away, but it is very crowded. We spent over an hour searching for a spot until we finally lucked out and got one. The Akotika does not say explicitly that guests are on their own if they bring a car, and given that other hotels help their guests, they should.

We stayed here the one night we were in Akko. The area around the hotel is a little run down but it is a central location. The hotel room was very nice and breakfast was delicious. Be aware that you need to carry your suitcase up a flight of stairs to get to your room - but the payoff is a beautiful view over the water.
