Sunrise Village Hotel - All Inclusive

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was very spacious and had a big balcony which we could access from both rooms, air con in both rooms was really good, all the beds are really comfy, lots of power points in both rooms. Struggled a little for clothes storage as there was only 1 wardrobe and 4 of us. I read reviews mentioning the size of the bathrooms were quite small but we thought they were a good size. The hotel is short walk from the main road where a lot of the bars, restaurants & shops are. Which ever way you walk to the main road it’s a steep walk back up to the hotel, we found one road was ALOT steeper than the others but we came home fitter. We went to the beach a few times, a lot of the bars and restaurants have their own sun loungers & parasols that you can pay to use for the day, 2 beds & 1 parasol costs around €10 to use for the day. You get a lot of people coming to sell you things like sunglasses, bracelets & food and some people offering massage services at their shops, some of them were quite pushy so just watch out for this if you go to the beach. The hotel is on the small side, quiet & very clean, all the staff we met were very friendly. The food was really good, there was always something that our fussy kids would eat which was a big plus, 4 nights a week they had themed nights in the restaurant, sushi, Italian, Mexican & BBQ. Pool bar also had snacks in between meal times as well as ice cream. The pool was a good size but is on the cooler side but once you’re in and moving it’s fine this was probably down to the time of year. There are plenty of sun loungers and because of where the pool is located we could always make sure the baby was in the shade when not in the pool. The hotel is on a hill, the reception is on the same level as the road then you either go down quite a few stairs or down a hill to get to the pool, restaurant and rooms. We visited Chania harbour by catching the bus from the main road, this was only €2 each which is a lot cheaper than getting a taxi and really easy to do. We visited a water park while in Crete and got there on the fun train which the kids loved. The bus & the train stops are only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Overall the stay was great. Food was nice, room was clean and had the basics. Disappointed that you weren’t provided with water in the room and you had to pay to get it from the bar. There are parts of the day you can’t get drinks etc from the bar / snack bar. Not sure if that was due to the season not starting till June but the snack bar was closing earlier than it stated and the lad would not pour a drink if he had started bringing the shutters down. The main bar closed at 11 so after that you would need to leave the resort to get more drinks. Close walk to the beach and where the other bars are and it’s nice and quiet around the hotel. Reception staff were very friendly and a few in the main bar but some of the other staff weren’t so friendly. Like I said maybe our stay would have been different if it was in their season more.

Such a lovely hotel! Amazing staff, the food was lovely everyday, I couldn’t fault it at all we really enjoyed our stay. It was very very clean, I literally can’t fault a thing the stay was perfect! Thank you for having us and we hope to one day come back!

Very nice customer service especially at the pool bar. The room was clean and it was really good that they had air condition. We stayed with 20 person group and the hotel was perfect for us. Only minus was the lunch (or snack) boxes we took one day on our day trip.

Absolutely wonderful hotel. The staff are so kind and helpful, and our experience was excellent despite a few days of poor weather. There are loads of sunbeds and places to enjoy the ambience, you never need to worry about finding somewhere to sunbathe and the vast pool is clean and well cared for. Our room was beautiful and so clean. We had a one bedroom studio which had a large living room, huge bedroom and super king-size bed and a good bathroom. The shower pressure is very good and there was always sufficient hot water. My mobility is poor, if you struggle with accessibility please do take note of the following points, although they did not in any way hinder our holiday and everyone went out of their way to accommodate me: The hotel is down a steep hill on one side, or steps on the other. There are no handrails. The very kind receptionist helped me down the slope. There are two steps to the restaurant, then another two to the buffet. I would have been much happier with a handrail on the steps to the buffet as I found them difficult, but again there was lots of help. Please do book this wonderful hotel, we will be returning.

From the moment we arrived we knew we had chosen the right place for our holiday. Our room was large and the beds were comfortable. All inclusive buffet at each sitting was varied and tasty. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool with no need to reserve a bed at Sunrise. Finally but definitely not last the staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and chatty with a big shout out to Christina who made our holiday even more special.
