My girlfriend and I went to Istron Bay Hotel, to spend a day in its beach. The beach is absolutely not expensive, 15€ for a set + 2€ to park the scooter, and its environment was very very nice, but really can’t recommend the service. I went to the beach bar/restaurant in the morning to have something to drink. The middle aged waiter at the cashier’s desk didn’t tell me that the payment method choice had to be given notice before the bill was issued. So at payment moment, I said, I would use the card. He unkindly told me, I would not, because I should have told him before and so my payment had to be done by cash. So I did. At lunch we came back at the beach bar/restaurant and had some chicken souvlaky with wine. The quality of the wine wasn’t high and the chicken wasn’t well cooked: these started to disappoint us. But it was the payment once again to really upset us. I gave the same middle aged waiter notice before the bill, the preference for paying by card and try to use my American Express. The restaurant POS seemed to be able to accept this card, because it was requiring me to digit my pin, but the transaction didn’t succeeded. I proposed then to try with different card (Mastercard), but he told me he could not allow me to pay there anymore, I had to go up to the reception to pay my lunch, and that he would have hold my Amex card until I would have show him the payment receipt. I did again what I was told to do and once at the reception, I notifyed the hotel manager about the fact. He apologized himself but didn’t do nothing more than that, not even a call to to the restaurant to talk to the waiter to ckeck it out. Is it legal deciding to keep one’s credit card because of the inadeguacy of the service, that is not able to accept the most known credit card in the world? Is it professional sending a client up to the reception to pay the lunch (after 5 minutes walk uphill underneath the sun), because the inadeguacy of the service? I guess a 4 stars hotels should find solutions to whatever problems may happen, instead of expecting the client to work them out. Last but not least, facilities aiming to stay at hight level of standard, has to recruit employee fitting this standard.
