Bella Vista Appartments Sissi

Somewhere between poor and average. Upon arriving at the hotel we were a little taken back by the apartment, it was very small and needs updating, the bathroom is tiny and not suitable for a family, and kitchen facilities very basic! Not able to cook a whole meal. Ok for making a sandwich or possibly boiling noodles... id say that's the extent of it. Wasn't impressed with the room at all and did ask to swap to another apartment but unfortunately we were unable to. I am aware some of the apartments have been renovated but not the one we were staying in. The view from the balcony was lovely though. The pool was nice, a good size with a nice view, cold but refreshing! The area around the pool has so much potential but definitely needs updating and the seating area could be made a lot nicer. Drinks expensive at the bar and food very basic, couldn't have an evening meal here. The breakfast was some toast, ham, cheese and cake, and would have greatly benefited from yoghurt and fruit but these were not available. We skipped breakfast most days as it was too repetitive and no options. Air con was 10euro per night which seemed a lot, but was unfortunately needed with children in August. However, worth a note that the air con is only in the main bedroom so doesn't really help with any extra beds! The area itself was lovely. The hotel is secluded and either a hot 20 minute walk into Sissi or 7euro taxi. Sissi is absolutely beautiful with lots to do, a gorgeous harbour to swim in, restaurants and shops. We did rent a car so we could explore areas further away too which I would say is an absolute must to be honest. We would return to the area for sure, but probably a different hotel.

Just got back from staying here for 8 days. Little bit out of the way from the main part of sissi, around 20-30 minutes walk but easy enough to get a taxi for €7. We arrived around 1am and rang the number on the gate and within a few minutes someone arrived and showed us to the room, we had 2 kids with us (4 & 3) and had 1 pram. A young woman showed us to our room which was up quite a few steps (not ideal with having young kids and a pram) but the lady helped us carry the pram etc up to our room. The room was basic but we only paid £550 for the 8 days so was what we expected, you have to pay €10 per day for air-conditioning which we didn't think was worth it for the price and to be honest the room throughout the entire stay wasn't that warm anyway. The safe you have to pay for but ours was broke anyway so we just kept our valuables on us at all times. Beds were hard but didn't stop us from getting a good night sleep. Hygiene bins got emptied daily, our only big issue from the room perspective was no hot water in the mornings, and see through nets for curtains so no Privacy from the outside of the room so everyone could watch you sleeping etc... Pool area was clean and staff seemed helpful and friendly, the main man cant make cocktails but as long as you dont mind waiting a short time the lady is more than capable. Good selection of pool snacks and food available I.e. toasties, pizza, nuggets and chips (btw these were better than KFC for flavour wise, unreal). We didn't really do breakfast there apart from a peice of toast and coffee one morning so cant comment on that. Overall not entirely sure why they have had such bad reviews lately but cant say we had a bad stay. Just one comment for the management to follow up we would suggest changing the curtains in room 29 for something with Privacy for guests and to fully inspect the mattress as we did find a bug on the mattress which was suspicious of a bed bug but saying that we did not get any bed bug style bites so wouldn't like to say it was 100% a bed bug but worth an inspection from staff. Overall great stay and if it wasn't so far away from the main streets in sissi we would stay again. Ps. There is no onsite shop which would have been ideal to buy essentials such as drinks, bread etc as the walk to the shop as we said was around 20-30 mins (longer with little kids). 9/Sept/24 Stayed at Bella Vista 2years ago.Been taken over again, the only staff from previous visit is Vangelis he works the bar. I feel so sorry for him having to deal with all the customer complaints at the moment would not suprise me if he leaves at end of season too, he's the only asset the hotel has got and trying his best to deal with it all. When the owners daughter Georgia works the bar the price of your drinks are never the same even when your order is the same, thankfully vangelis sorts it later. The pool is filthy and so murky you cant see the bottom its full of insects, and the edges have a tide mark of algae so i wouldn't risk getting in it. The snack bar isn't open,but every afternoon around 4oclock the owners sit in the snack bar area to eat their meal and have a glass of wine,something we'd loved to have done but sadly not this time, i found it quite rude of them to do it to be honest especially when the hotel advertises a snack bar open. The smell of their lunch wafting around the pool area sets stomachs a rumbling. Its 7euro in a taxi to the nearest supermarket as its in the village also the nearest restaurant and pub. We were aware of that when we booked and that was fine for us but like many here today sitting around the pool we like to have snacks at lunch time with a glass or two of ouzo. Even if you could walk the village for supplies in this heat it would wipe you out simply carrying it back. Walk the village and taxi back with the shopping so add the extra 7euros on to the bill We won't be returning i would have preferred to give a zero star but couldn't, the star I gave is for Vangelis
