Villa Alba - Ahangama

We spent an unforgettable week at Villa Alba and honestly didn’t want to leave. Waking up to the sounds of birds and watching peacocks casually strut past the pool was surreal—living in luxury surrounded by nature. Squirrels darted through the trees, exotic birds flitted past our balcony, and the occasional curious peacock even stopped by to admire its reflection in the pool. There has been a lot of work and care in designing beautiful gardens where Villa Alba grows its own pineapples, jackfruit and chillis. An excellent place to take a yoga class with the Yogi. The food deserves its own standing ovation. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts were something special—hoppers, curries, and tropical fruits that made each morning feel like a celebration. And for our kids? The in-house chefs delivered amazing Western dishes that had them smiling every mealtime (and asking for seconds). Every dish was fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with love. The villa itself is beautiful—open, airy, and perfectly nestled in the lush landscape. It’s serene and stylish without being fussy, and the staff were exceptional—always on hand but never intrusive, anticipating needs before we even voiced them. Villa Alba is that rare blend of wild and wonderful, where five-star comfort meets beautiful, lush, natural surroundings. We will definitely be returning to Villa Alba in the future.

What an amazing hidden gem and perfect place to spend our honeymoon. We had the most wonderful 5 nights at Villa Alba. Our room was stunning and had the most beautiful views. The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating and made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived and throughout our whole stay - they really couldn’t do enough for us and were always so happy and polite. The menu and food at the hotel was outstanding and always so beautifully presented. We particularly loved the pool area, comfortable sun loungers and views over the beautiful gardens and rice fields. The hotel very kindly organised a safari for us at Udawalawe National Park - this is a must when staying in Sri Lanka. A day we will remember forever. Location is peaceful and only 10 minutes from the beach. Very easy to get to by tuk tuk which the hotel very kindly organised for us during our stay. We really can’t fault anything about this hotel. We really hope to return in the future will be recommending it to all of our friends. If you are considering booking Villa Alba please don’t think twice, you won’t regret it! Villa Alba is a luxurious retreat with well-maintained rooms and stunning outdoor shower. The small but high-quality breakfast buffet offers delicious, locally sourced options. While a bit far from the nearest city and seaside, this distance ensures a peaceful atmosphere. With fewer rooms, it fosters a calm, family-friendly environment and all rooms offer views of wild animals like monkeys and peacocks. The welcoming and kind staff enhance the experience. Perfect for romantic getaways - highly recommended!

We loved our 2 week stay at Villa Alba, a cosy yet luxurious villa tucked away among the rice paddies of the Sri Lankan south coast. It is close to the beach/town (a short tuk tuk ride) with plenty of adventure activities and day trips nearby (shopping, surfing, safari, tea plantations etc.). Or you can enjoy the peace and quiet while lying by (or floating on) the beautiful infinity pool. The staff made our stay easy, comfortable and relaxing. The food by chef Krishan was a highlight, and Kalana and his front of house team saw to our every need. Rooms are clean, spacious and modern with great amenities and stunning views. We will definitely be back!

I visited Sri Lanka 18 months ago and loved this place so much, I booked myself in for another stay. The villa is so peaceful and well designed, it would be easy not to go anywhere else and just enjoy relaxing by the pool…although I recommend you venture out at least once to visit Galle Fort, the Turtle Hatchery or the elephants in Udawalawe. Geeshan can help you make the arrangement. Food is great, service is 5* and the rooms are so well designed. The villa has 5 rooms and the two I’ve stayed in were both lovely (room 3 and 5). Highly recommend!

We booked the entire villa for our family of 6 (including adult children). It proved a perfect choice because we all had plenty of independent space, as well as communal living and dining areas (and of course the pool). The architecture and style of the villa is superb, and we loved the outlook across the rice fields. Service was faultless and the food excellent. We stayed for 7 nights and didn't tire of the menu. The only downside was that getting transport to/from the beach or Galle proved a little tricky (compounded by the fact there was 6 of us). We tried taxis, tuk tuks and PickMe - with mixed success.
