We just returned from an overnight stay at the hotel and were very glad it was only one night. The August review below is not reality as we experienced it. Rather the July review was basically our experience. This hotel should not be open and the staff all know it. As described, this is a construction site. The emails we received in advance in no way accurately conveyed the extent of the situation. When we checked in along with a friend, the AC in her room wasn’t working. She called to complain and someone showed up with a fan. She finally got them to give her a different room. Our room was in the building adjacent to the pool. When we returned at 8:30PM after dinner out (our booked dinner at the hotel was canceled as a result of thunderstorms since it had to be outdoors), there were no lights from the driveway around the pool to the entrance to our building. The paved area around the pool was flooded. Breakfast was delivered to our room but there was not any comfortable or reasonable place to put the food for two of us to eat. One positive note - it was delivered on time and was fine. Bottom line: the staff is doing the best they can but clearly the corporation who owns and manages this hotel only wants the money and isn’t concerned about their reputation.

A wonderful stop on our Olympic journey to parts of France. Nice and helpful staff, with great recommendations for sightseeing and meals. The hotel gardens and pool are beautiful and made us feel like we were in a special place. Breakfast in the garden was a great way to start the day. Easy walk to Aix center. All that plus a comfortable room made for a special stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed for three nights. Overall, we don’t feel that Le Pigonnet should currently be open. It is our impression that the staff agree. The hotel is currently communicating to guests that the late arrival of building materials accounts for the extent of current building works. We find this hard to believe- months after re-opening, the ongoing works are very extensive. The hotel seems many many months away from finishing building works as of July 2024. Esprit de France is a large hospitality company, and this hotel is one of their flagship properties. We feel they are showing disregard for their guests (and employees) by remaining open. We feel this decision was likely made by a corporate entity with little empathy for the guests, or employees. I want to paint a picture of the state of the hotel: - The main hotel building and restaurant are empty shells- there is literally no floor, plumbing, or electricity. There are no windows or doors (though these were being installed in front of breakfasting guests during our stay) - There is nowhere indoors for breakfast. When we enquired where breakfast would be moved if it rained during service (and it did, though only lightly), we were met with a shrug. We imagine it is the same for lunch and dinner. - There are no indoor spaces/lounges/bar areas for anyone arriving early prior to check-in or for someone who simply wants to sit - The hotel “office/reception” has a single toilet and vanity for staff and guests - To hide the building works the hotel has invested in what would be tens of thousands of dollars of potted plants. They are still in plastic tubs, and blow over in inclement weather (literally onto guests during our first breakfast). Some have died and not been moved. - During outdoor breakfast service, there were multiple tradespeople visible literally feet from guests. There was drilling and hammering. This was on a Saturday and Sunday (after being told no building works would take place on the weekend). Breakfast was (in spite of earnest staff) such a comedy that we were entertained. - Guest Wifi regularly drops out entirely (why renovation would effect this is a mystery) We were initially accommodated in a room in a separate villa from the main hotel. This was thehe worst rooms we have ever stayed in (arriving at 1am we felt unable to complain to the pleasant night porter). We could hear when the person staying in the room above us was going to the toilet. This was not only because every shoeless footstep was clearly audible, but also because the unclad drainage pipe ran straight through our dressing room. Every drop of liquid from the room above could be heard tinkling through the pipes. The floor was so dusty that our feet were brown from stepping to the toilet. The bath and shower area stank (and there was no toilet in this space). This space, which does not seem to be under renovation (comical really given the rest of the property is) should be closed. Thank goodness the hotel

I arrived yesterday. The entrance is dusty dirty lined with half dead plants. The pjace is a building site wth drilling all day. We were aware of delayed renovations but not the extent abd the noise Do not stay tee.cancel your reservations. What has been finished loons cheap,marks on doies floors and bath. Workmen everywhere. A disgrace. 900euros /night.i have been told of a discount but I have to continue to stay and will request further. I shall also speak wth the peoplecat Esprit who no manage the site. This hotel was lovely

We booked a room for 3 nights and only stayed one night. We were ripped off paying $580 for a superior room. The hall on the way to the room smelled of chemicals with horrible walls, baseboard and art. The room had a temporary air conditioning unit on the floor with a hose leading out the patio door. The view was a construction site. The breakfast was horrible with yogurt in plastic containers. It’s not the lovely old Le Pigonett it used to be. Don’t stay here! It should be closed for remodeling. I would never go back even after the remodel is finished.

A great hotel that we will be returning to. Everything was top notch, even under construction. Convenience, a great staff and outstanding grounds (gardens / Pool).

How can give this place a negative star. It was under major construction, nothing open, restaurant, gym, they were extremely rude! The only people who were nice were the 2 that gave us the approval for us to check k out. It was the worst experience ever!! It had glue fumes, smelled, cutting tile all over the grounds with a tile saw outside our window Plants all over in pots, weeds. We talked to the management we got the ok to checkout without penalty. Got an email to prove the conversation. But now after, they are not refunding our money.
