Otroligt

We love the view from our room on the 7th floor. The free wifi is fast in the room, around the hotel, and in the restaurant. We had buffet dinner and breakfast included room rate. We enjoyed both meals. All travelers must added meals with their room because there is no restaurant or convenience stores within 10km radius. There is a gift shop and convenience stores located inside the hotel. We recommend this hotel; and we’ll come back again.

Mainly stayed here for ski in ski out convenience to Aomori Spring Ski Resort. Hotel rooms are sizeable for Japan standards.
Got the full room and board with 2 meals provided, and buffet selection was decent variety. Lunch options there are limited choices but food is decent. There is also an onsen which was nice.

Booked for solo travel but was assigned a comfortable twin room. Bathroom is a bit small but clean. Vending machines available on the ground floor.

Everything is good but too less choices in breakfast
We were quite disappointed with the Rockwood so much so that we and our travelling companions left a day early. While the rooms were comfortable and location to the slopes great the food and dining options were disappointing. The buffet is a “free for all”. There are no set times and you just turn up whenever. While this might appeal to some the result is no table, food empty, staff struggling to replenish and very unhygienic serving utensils and mess. It felt like you were at school camp in a big hall with absolutely no atmosphere. We tried different times during our stay in an attempt to make this work to no avail. The food is totally catered for western palette with even the Japanese options very basic and boring. The salad bar and breakfast options did not change for the 4 days we were there. The staff were great and tried to help with seating however they were short staffed and trying to manage. I can’t fault the staff as they were run off their feet. The iwate cafe and bar had very odd opening hours that don’t cater for anyone. The pool table was 1800 yen for an hour.. this should be free or at least a bit cheaper. The clientele were 80% Non Japanese so a very international mix of guests. This was evident when I asked a girl to put away her phone in the onsen as she sat there fully clothed. This was not the hotels fault as there were signs up about onsen etiquette but added to the bad feel. The rooms were comfortable with a great view of the Sea of Japan and the proximity to the mountain was great. However the limited food options and overall eating experience which we likened to hunger games was very disappointing overall.

Pros # Convenient Ski on ski off resort. # Fantastic views. # Perfect for beginner snowboarders or skiers. # Good sized rooms by Japanese standards. Cons # The beds were hard as rock, and there was limited wardrobe space. # Unlike Japanese culture, the staff here were not friendly or accommodating. # The buffet barely changed from day to day and was not appetizing nor represented the photos. #Misleading advertising, only some chairlifts are open Mon-Fri, there is no night skiing, and everything is an extra (for example 1800 Yen per 1 hour on the pool table). #The Bar and only shop on site seems to decide their working hours, as they were often closed. #You are at the mercy of this hotel, as nothing is nearby, you are literally on the top of a mountain.

There is only one place to stay on the mountain in Aomori Spring Resort, and this is it. Our room was small, which is pretty standard for Japanese hotel rooms, and it was quite a squash with all our bags (given that we had packed for summer in New Zealand followed by skiing in Japan). This wasn’t helped by a lack of shelving in the cupboard. However, the bed was fairly comfortable and everything worked. The food offering was fine but did not change very much from day to day, so I think you’d get fairly bored of it all if you were there for any extended period of time. The dining room itself is a huge barn of a place with very little in the way of atmosphere. The bar area had some very strange opening times (well, for Westerners, anyway), and we weren’t able to have a post-ski beer in the bar. Instead, we bought beers in the shop and drank them in the room. The shop was, though, well laid out and well-supplied with a good range of snacks and ski apparel. Being on the mountain, the hotel was ideal for the slopes and the lockers were easily accessible (from both inside and outside the hotel) and of a good size.

The service is the worst for a luxury hotel with a high price. The restaurant has a buffet of commercial food and overly salty food. Have the customer take care of the dishes. Hotel not recommended.Only location was good.
