Unico Hotel Riviera Maya Adults Only - All Inclusive

OMG where do I even start… Unico 2087 in our eyes is THE best holiday hotel we have ever stayed at! We spent 2 weeks here at the end of September/early October and were in complete bliss. From arriving at the hotel to leaving, we still can’t find any fault with anything. We loved every part. When people write reviews and put individuals names, I always laugh as you are never there long enough to get to know people however, Unico changed this for us. After only a few days, restaurant staff, waiters and pool staff knew our names. A huge thank you to Daniel in the Unico 2087 restaurant, Carlos, Fernanda, and Luis in Mi Carisa and Isobel, Antonio & Diana at Mura House, together with everyone else we encountered who remembered us by name. We stayed in a swim out room, number 1110, and would say these are the best rooms unless you’re looking for an ocean view. If you want a more quieter room, I’d recommend building 1 which is right opposite the beach. We had a daily visit from an iguana outside our pool as well as the resident family of coatis. There are wildlife everywhere and we were lucky enough to see turtles hatching on the beach a few times, a swimming stingray, pelicans, birds of prey, so many iguanas and lizards, birds, insects and fish. The food and drinks at Unico are out of this world. All drinks are top shelf and if you have a favourite, you can ask. There is a different cocktail menu at every bar at the hotel. If you’re not a huge drinker, they also have the most insane mocktails! I’m vegan and I could eat at every restaurant. A lot of the dishes are adaptable and there are vegan options on the menu at all restaurants. Our favourite by far was Mura House, which was the Japanese/sushi. It’s advisable to make reservations however, we didn’t a few nights and still managed to get in. The hotel is big but not too big that you get lost. The hotel lobby, bar, cafe and majority of restaurants and spa, as well as shops, are all nestled together with the pools, Unico 2087 restaurant, and pool bar and further bar outside at the back of the hotel. The hotel is on a private beach and is gorgeous. All along the beach to both sides are turtle nests and there is so much sea life and wildlife. You can walk and run along both sides of the beach out of the hotel. There are other hotels along the beach however, the beaches are never packed and the hotels are spaced out. You are allocated a host when you check-in and we had Maria, who was amazing. You get sent the days activities and your host can help with: • Golf, Spa and Tour reservations • Assistance with restaurant reservations and on-going events • Planning special events or occasions • Shoe cleaning, ironing and steaming services • Laundry service • Cleaning requests • Spa tub preparation • Mixology program • Pillow menu request • Additional bathroom amenities • Aromatherapy • Late checkout requests • Bag pick-up for check-out • Assistance with Cabana reservations We didn’t have a

They treated us wonderfully!! The staff is very well prepared and gave us a magical experience. The meal was the best we have ever had. The place is lovely, peaceful, and has marvelous buildings. Our host, Eduardo Reyes, was so gentle. He stayed with us all the time, looking for our comfort.

I'm amazed by the outstanding service received from our beach waitress Eugenio. He made our day funny, comfortable, and always filled with fresh water, our drinks, and snacks. Five starts for Eugenio. Thanks for your efforts to make us feel royalty

My wife and I once again had an amazing week at UNICO. This is a very well run resort that offers top notch amenities, including five pools, wonderful al a carte restaurants, top shelf liquors, and comfortable beds and pillows. You can stay at the resort for your entire stay, or take excursions to a number of close by sites. During our stay we were well taken care of by our butlers Israel and Roger. They handled a number of details for us such as making dinner reservations, saving our chairs at the pool, making sure that our room was clean and comfortable, and answering any questions that we had regarding the resort. They are great guys. We also had wonderful service at the Hall of Fame pool by our servers Lucy and Lucinda, and our bar tender, Reyes. The food at each of the restaurants was great, and again, the servers were amazing, including Roberto at the Mexican Restaurant. They all took special care of me as I was there celebrating my birthday.

Overall a good resort. Good food, decent views, quiet, not crowded. I would stay here again but it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice. Pay the extra money and get higher/better quality of service elsewhere. It’s not worth the 1hr+ trek from either airport. The Property: - Very safe, guarded entrance - Clean and well maintained landscape - Beach isn’t great with all the seaweed Customer Service: - Overall decent service. Nothing spectacular to brag about - Waiters were a bit slow even though restaurants weren’t busy Check in: - Slow check in - Beware your dedicated concierge that checks everyone in will hit you with a pitch to attend some kind of session/seminar for 2 free 50min massages. Local Host: - You’ll be delegated a “local host.” They’re nothing special and don’t have much influence. Our host wasn’t that friendly and he was useless. I barely heard from him since he was off for 2 of the 4 days during our stay. - One day, about 2-2.5 hours before our dinner reservation I asked him to help reschedule it to an hour later since our excursion ran later than expected. He replied that it’s too late so just walk in. We got back to the resort 15min after our original reservation time and stopped by the restaurant and I asked the restaurant host could we push it an hour back. He simply said yes and see you an hour later. It was literally as simple as that. Our local host was mediocre. Room Pros: - Good size rooms, very clean - Stocked with everything you need - Nice size balcony - Comfortable bed Room Cons: - Alcoba Oceanview isn’t worth the price tag. We got stuck in room 8301 which only had a partial oceanview (we were under the assumption of a full view based on the Alcoba oceanview room we booked) due to the restaurant below and trees blocking most of the view. Pay the extra money and go for the Alto oceanview room, which is guaranteed top floor. - Extreme Noise above. Noise travels easily from the floor above. It was so loud at night that I slept with my headphones in playing white noise. The mid mornings were loud as well due to housekeeping. - Many towels provided were slightly ripped like they’re old and many of them were dirty - Safe stopped working and had our belongings inside so had to contact the front desk for help - The floors get extremely moist due to the weather. I almost slipped many times so be careful. Food: Overall, best resort food I’ve ever had (if you’ve been to resorts then you know what I mean) - Mura House: Bland and mediocre food. Dessert had hair in it. We decided to go back to cuerva siete. Even a couple that was at Mura house at the same time also left and went to cuerva siete because mura house food wasn’t great. - Cuerva Siete: This was our favorite of all. AMAZING crispy shrimp tacos. The banana dessert and chocolate mousse are great as well. - Mi Carisa: Decent. Great strawberry margaritas. Not memorable because I can’t think of much to say. - Restaurant 2087: The restaurant is humid

Unico has sadly lost its charm and superb customer service. Our fifth visit to Unico since it opened and we booked Unico this summer as one of our locations for our honeymoon knowing the high standard experience we have had previously. Disappointed from the moment we arrived. Customer service lacking and below average, some unfriendly staff, housekeeping cleanliness at times pretty poor, prior arrival requests not being fulfilled, incompetent restaurant staff, TLC needed across the entire resort, gym equipment not working, Unico I think you need to really reflect on your customer service and quality across all areas of your resort. Good luck with opening a new Unico!

I went to this resort with a group of 9 and had a fabulous time until the last day of our stay. We returned to the room from the beach to see the roof in our bathroom had caved in from the ceiling above. Exposed pipes and Sheetrock was all over the place. We notified the staff we needed to move rooms and was not met with a staff member until well over an hour. The Unico staff took nearly 2.5 hours to get us into a new room with the ceiling in tact and had excuses for every question we had. When seeking compensation we were met with such resistance and disrespect for asking for even any monetary amount off our room by the “supervisor” Aceneth. Our group paid for 3 rooms and 9 all inclusive guests which was a huge financial contribution for a “luxury” hotel. After even crying from frustration, Aceneth rolled her eyes and asked for me to provide a solution (her job) because hers were unacceptable. When we finally got a new room the ONLY compensation was a steak at our all inclusive dinner….. not to mention the only helpful staff member who was attentive to our needs was the concierge Claudia. This situation would’ve been very different had someone been in the restroom when this structural liability occurred. For a luxury resort, I was surprised by the low level customer service we experience as well as the disrespectful lip from a supervisor. If traveling to Mexico and looking for luxury, look elsewhere.

Stayed at Unico Hotel for our honeymoon- beautiful place! We heard the beaches weren’t 100% the best- they are beautiful but certain spots are better than others. Restaurants are great to try each one, so make reservations early! The Restaurant 2087 serves a good breakfast buffet- otherwise we loved ordering room service breakfast and enjoying outside our deck. The staff and service is great- I LOVED spending time in La Escondida pool, the bartender Edy was very friendly we wanted to visit him daily! His service was excellent, and drinks were delicious! There’s beautiful shops and great excursions- amazing spa! Only thing is to make sure you ask for the daily scheduled activities and book early with the local host. There’s a bit of a night life, but it’s mainly a hotel for relaxation. I’d love to return back just for the connections we made with the people of Mexico. :)

We have just left reluctantly, Unico. It was our 2nd visit and we spent the 2nd week of our 2 weeks holiday there. As usual the staff were amazing. Starting with our Host, Mario. He was super helpful beyond the call of duty. He helped us change rooms following the AC not working in our first room. This delighted us completely as the 2nd room was light and a much better view enabling my wide to have a permanent smile. No arrangement was too much for Mario. Alejandra, Yasmin and Dulce in the 20 87 always smiling and helpful at breakfast, led by Andre's. The hardworking entertainment team led by Ricardo were busy, hardworking and engaging. I must say the 3 shows in the week had significantly improved from the previous 2 years. Great dancers and powerful singer. Alexandra the amazing choreographer is next level creative. We must mention the beautiful beach thar you certainly can swim in. A wonderful vibe. Only negative would be Caoti wildlife that were far too prevalent looking for food.
