Diana Grand Hotel

We decided to return to Alassio for our second honeymoon, 40 years after the first one. Alassio was also the favorite holiday destination of my parents because of its romantic center full of narrow lively little streets and the beautiful scenery. We remembered having seen the hotel from a distance in the past and visited the website. We were attracted by the info regarding the terraces and the cuisine and decided to book. On arrival we were struck by the design of the lobby and the restaurant and by the view on the bay. You could easily see that great investments have been made to create the interior. On the outside there is still some work to do. The reception staff was very friendly and made us feel at home instantly. Our room with a nice balcony and sea view was good but not spectacular. The airco worked very well and the room was kept clean very neatly. The private beach was extremely well managed by a knowledgeable lady with 30 years of experience. For us the biggest asset of the hotel is the kitchen staff and its chef Yari, a real artist. Since the hotel is located a bit outside of the very center, the surrounding is more quiet, especially when you book a room on the seaside. But to get to the very center it only takes a 5-10 minutes walk along the beach.

My husband loved this hotel. I thought the lack of art and seating in the Panorama Balcony room was dismal. It's just like the photos. Gray. One desk chair, two oddly uncomfortable side chairs. The room has two beautiful, built-in closets with drawers. Gorgeous, old wood. Lots of storage space. A narrow bathroom, with new shower and lovely window. We stayed in the older part, I imagine. There are rooms much better decorated than the Panorama Balcony room. Hallways looked like a hospital. Be sure you choose the right room for you. Our room was large, and the balcony divine. I had a lovely view of the sea. We kept the windows open, and slept to the sound of the waves. This hotel has excellent bar service. Sunday night there was jazz duo. Expensive drinks, with delightful complimentary snacks. It's a large hotel. There was a party for the local election with gorgeous people coming and going. The kitchen is run by a new chef who earned a Michelin star in Genoa. Service and food quality reflect his expertise. The beach and the neighborhood are superb. Plenty of food, bar choices within a short walk. The hotel seems to cater to well off Italian and French patrons, with a splash of German speakers. I would stay there again.

Abbiamo prenotato per due notti al “Grand Hotel”, se cosi si puo’ definire, una camera classic io e mio marito. Entrando sembra un bellissimo albergo 4*stelle, anche la parte del ristorante ben rivisitata. Le due ragazze della reception molto scortesi, volevano farci pagare una mezza giornata di spiaggia al prezzo totale della giornata, spiacente del fatto che avevo salvato il tariffario al momento della conferma della prenotazione. Diciamo che la correttezza non la fa da padrona, considerando anche che all’interno del conto finale ci è stato aggiunto un pasto mai consumato, per errore, e poi stornato. Completo la recensione dicendo che di grand hotel non ha nulla, è un albergo degli anni 60 circa, probabilmente oggetto di un “trucco e parrucco” eseguito malamente. La camera non pulita, presentava botte e rigate sui muri. Bagni vecchi, con piastrelle degli anni ‘60 pitturate. in compenso la vasca è originale utilizzata come doccia. Unico lato positivo, la colazione e bravi i camerieri. Allego delle immagini che penso possano parlare da sè. Diciamo che i veri 4 stelle sono altri.

Un hotel davvero perfetto: la posizione è strategica, l'ambiente nuovo e raffinato, il personale cordiale e disponibile a qualsiasi ora del giorno, la colazione varia ed ottima, il ristorante soddisfa ogni palato, le camere sono spaziose e pulitissime, alla spa non manca niente, la spiaggia ben organizzata. Ci siamo trovate benissimo!

Hotel molto ben curato e pulito , personale sempre disponibile e simpatici, ottimo sia il ristorante gourmet sia il ristorante sulla spiaggia! Siamo stati molto bene e credo che ritorneremo sicuramente. Grazie per averci coccolato per una settimana intera !!!

Horrible à fuir ! Aspect de l’hôtel côté rue complètement défraîchis, décrépits. arrivée à l’heure du déjeuner, déjeuner pris sur le restaurant de la plage à 14h donc pratiquement plus de clients, 3 serveurs qui tournaient en rond et ont du mettre 15mins à venir pour finalement demander à leur chef de rang de venir nous expliquer la carte, pendant les explications il est repartis 10 mins, on a finalement réussit à passer la commande. Mon plat un tartare de saumon avocat, arrivée sans avocat, le plat est reparti et revenu avec un coulis de mangue à la place, hors je suis allégorique à la mangue, le plat est reparti et revenu avec simplement l assiette essuyé sur le pourtour et encore de la mangue sur le plat. Arrivés dans la chambre « vue colline », vue sur des immeubles, une grande voie et surtout la voie ferrée. La baignoire était noire au fond, de la rouille autour de la robinetterie, la climatisation qui ne fonctionnait pas parce que l’hôtel avait décidé de ne pas encore la mettre. Le petit déjeuner était correct. Mais en résumé le prix de la chambre c’est du vol !
