Econo Lodge Inn & Suites

The 1st thing I would like to say is that this property does not do the photos online any justice at all and that is the also the 1st thing that I mentioned to the front desk attendant. The outside looks like a salvage yard with all of the empty plastic planters, trash on the ground, old peeling paint and a dirty, beat up ice machine. The drink machine beside it looks just as bad, especially with the old faded out display cans. There’s a table in the lobby that is full of old cordless phones. I don’t know what the heck that was about. The African American gentleman at the front desk was very polite, and he noticed the concern on my face. I told him that I wasn’t sure at all about this place and he asked why and I stated that this is NOT what I saw online. It was too late to cancel according to the stipulations of my reservation. I would’ve had to cancel by the day before and before 4 PM. I didn’t have the energy to be on the phone with CHOICE HOTELS to try to get it changed so I just asked the gentleman to show me the room. He took me to room 124 on the backside of the hotel. Immediately when we turned the corner, I look to the left and see a ridiculous looking shed or some type of carport thing that has been put up to park someone’s personal car underneath it and that’s when I also saw all of the empty plastic planters all around. The front desk attendant open the room and it looked somewhat decent. The best thing about it was the bathroom. It looks as though it had recent upgrades and that was a plus. I did, however book a two room suite, which was to include a living area with a television and a sofa with a pull out bed, a bedroom area with a king bed, a television , microwave, and mini fridge. This room was a King accessible. I was tired, and had already driven there from Savannah Georgia and I didn’t feel like the aggravation of trying to get another hotel especially since I was only staying one night. I was pressed for time and needed to go meet my potential new business associate, so I agree to the room. After coming back from meeting with my now new business associate, I took some towels for the bathroom and laid them on top of the bed and I laid on top of them and eventually fell off to sleep. The next morning I got up to prepare myself to leave and I needed a razor so I picked up the phone to call the front desk to ask is I could come to get one and of course the phone does not work. I go to the door and I notice an employee who is apparently getting ready to clean rooms and I asked him if they had razors. He didn’t speak any English so I said never mind and I went to the front desk, but before leaving, I turn on the water in the shower so that it can be hot. By the time I came back. The person up there said that they don’t have razors. Disappointed yet again, I return to my room and start preparing to shower. I brushed my teeth first, and did my facial cleansing. Looking for a reasonably priced motel saving me from hallways, lobbies and elevators I found this property fit the bill. The staff is personable and responsive. My room was well appointed clean and comfortable. My 6 night stay was quiet and uneventful. Not perfect but perfectly acceptable for the price. I would stay here again if the need presented itself.
