Folies Corfu Hotel Apartments

Me and a couple of mates stayed here, we chose this hotel as it was a good price and fairly close to Corfu town ready for our trip to Albania. One of the selling points to us was the pool and pool bar which unfortunately wasn’t open most of the time which I understand was due to the weather having intermittent rain showers. Anyway the rooms were clean and the staff were helpful. I’d recommend. Thanks.

Hotel was in a good location just outside of Corfu, room was ok and very clean! Pool area was ok. Room 103 was spacious but the chair was covered by a throw, thank god. There was also a leak from the air con which made it impossible to sit on the balcony at some points. Room was run down by ok, the bathroom doesn’t look anything like the new bathrooms you will see on the pictures advertised. Shower head wasn’t even attached to the wall. How can you advertise pictures of bathrooms on the website and give someone a bathroom in the state of 103? Receptionists were lovely and helpful and the hotel was clean! It was kept very clean which was a big positive. The pool area was ok, but not shade and had to use trees to shade. Also barman was telling people not to drink water in 40 degree heat, also very rude when I see 3 young ladies tell him they bought the water from the reception and he just palmed them off waving his hands… what was worse was the attitude of the young lady working over the weekend. Rude, inattentive, miserable, slammed my change down on the bar and was wearing headphones. Think she was more interested in getting back to her phone or being chatted up by one of the guests. While working in this industry if she worked for me she would have been sacked many moons ago.

Hotel not recommended! Arriving on August 9, 2023, I immediately noticed some inefficiencies in the toilets. Specifically (as documented by the attached photos) absence of glass in the shower cubicle, defect of the shower head and floor drain completely raised and easily movable. I immediately requested a change of apartment but it was not granted to me and so I requested immediately and also in the following days the resolution of the problems exposed but they did not proceed. These problems caused, during the shower, water to leak from the shower itself and from the floor drain; water that inevitably settled all over the bathroom floor. In addition, the cleaning of the apartment did not take place regularly every day but only after urging the staff. On August 16, 2023, leaving the facility, I spoke to one of the managers asking for a small refund for the inefficiencies, I waited for a response from them for days, contacting them several times on the phone but to no avail. At this point I reported everything to the booking customer service and through them I learned that my refund request had been refused. Shame!

The reception staff were extremely lovely and helpful. The apartment was clean and tidy but there were areas of poor repair around skirting etc. The fridge turned off one night, defrosted mouldy ice water from the freezer compartment spoiling all the fresh food I left in there. The hotel is quite far away from the main populated areas. Two restaurants nearby were empty the first night, but the pizza place was really good and busy the next. €10 in a taxi into town. The apartments were better suited to Greek holiday makers. As an English woman alone it felt isolating. Although the bar tender was friendly, it was empty most of the time. The pool unfortunately was horrible, dirty water, full of leaves and disrepair of the lining. Extremely uninviting. The gardens were beautiful.

Lovely staff, especially reception. Had a wonderful time relaxing for a week on my own. I felt very safe and well looked after, especially since I was on my own. The accommodation was lovely and spotlessly clean. The gardens are definitely a highlight. Tranquil and serene.

We booked Folies even though it was a long walk to town because of the outdoor pool and bar. However, the bar and pool were closed for the entirety of our visit (last week of October to first week of November). We didn't find this out until after we had booked. The place is beautiful and is filled with trees. The staff at reception were friendly. The place was clean apart from some mould in the shower. The cleaners who serviced the room did a great job. There is an oven/grill, kettle, hob and fridge with freezer compartment along with dishes and cutlery. We went to the Lidl close by to buy food and drinks. There are a few shops and pharmacies close by but not many places to eat and drink. We walked to town every day and it took around 25 minutes. I understand there is a bus available but we never took it.
