Bonnie Castle Resort & Marina

Place is dated. Smell of mold in halls. We got one of the suites that had a balcony to the indoor pool. That was nice. Pool closed at 9. Wish they would have left the pool open for an extra hour for the suite rooms only. After all, we do pay extra. We sat out of the deck facing Boldt Castle. We watched the boats, ships, other watercraft. It was so peaceful. Just us on that big deck. We were there off season, Sept. We ate in the restaurant. Place is dated in decor. There is a night club in the restaurant that was starting to get busy so we left. Room was dated. Outdated tub with mirrors all around. Cute little “bar” area. Would be nice if resort had a pamphlet in room that gives some highlights of the town, places to eat, tours, etc.

It was our third anniversary and we decided to jump on our trike and venture north towards the 1000 island region. We decided to seek lodging at Bonnie Castle. We not only obtained a room, we took a jacuzzi suite. What a comfortable enjoyable stay we had. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, especially the front desk and dining room staff. We look forward to another stay I. The not so distant future

This property is in a wonderful location, but that is the only good thing. If I could give it zero stars, I would, but the check -in process was easy and the gal at the front desk was very nice. I was told we would have a room “overlooking” the pool, but in actuality, it overlooked the parking lot with the pool just beyond. Walking up to the door, there were cigarette butts everywhere and trash on the ground. There were cobwebs all around the outside light with hundreds of bugs stuck to it. The A/C was set to 61 degrees, most likely to mask the moldy odor inside the room. So not a warm welcome at all. The rooms are sorely outdated and in need of renovations. Locals know not to drink the tap water and for good reason, but this property will “hold $25 for incidentals” and they don’t even have bottled water in the room! Only stay if you’re desperate and even then , I’d rather sleep in my car. To the management and owners: take some pride in your property for heaven’s sake. There is a reason that the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel is sold out and charges what is does … maybe you ought to take a ride to Clayton to see how it’s done.

Very inexpensive. For a very good reason. Stay away. This place needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Old, poor condition.only saving grace is its location - close to downtown. If we had to do it all over again, we’d stay in nearby Clayton….much, much nicer town.

My husband booked us the “top of the line” spa room for an anniversary surprise. We arrived late at night and were pretty shocked to see how awful the accommodations were compared to the photos online and the $250 a night we paid to stay there! The rooms seem to have been built in the 1970s and never updated- the furniture was all broken, don’t get me started on the bathroom or the 1970s dingy “spa tub”. They advertised a gym, there was no gym. Breakfast was a choice of cereal or a bagel. When I complained about the price of these motel 8 standard rooms and the false advertising the manager refused to speak with me or return my calls. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Unbelievably terrible experience. The photos on the website are incredibly misleading - and the rate ($140+ fees = $186.57) is completely and utterly unreasonable. My very opened minded; not-picky; traveling self would even say the rate and conditions are UNACCEPTABLE. I'm not even sure where to start/end with the details of the room itself (cobwebs; dirt; paint chipping; broken tiles; gross bathrooms; dated everything; broken appliances; non-functioning shower head; disgusting jacuzzi...) I'm all about a little bit of nostalgia and I have a certain appreciation for a "dated" space still standing strong. But this...not so. As Marriott members - My husband and our family were excited to support a local establishment...and we were excited to read that the current owners are from Rochester, NY (We are, too). We love the area and own some land about 15 miles from Alex Bay. I'm delayed in posting here - as our experience at Bonnie was just over a month ago - However, We still feel just as appalled as we did entering that room that night. We arrived after 10pm with our 2 young boys, there were maybe 6-8 other vehicles in the lot. We had not had luck with finding reservations elsewhere and it was already a late night with our boys...so we stayed. I feel so taken advantage of and almost even more offended with the "10%" discount/refund that we were given when I stopped in the next morning to address all of the issues. No coffee, no breakfast(perhaps thankfully), no common area/lobby. Just a purely completely disappointing experience. And so sad to see an area with such potential being this blatantly run-down - and by so-called business-owners!!! Makes my heart hurt! STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
