Langley Castle Hotel

Awesome Hotel , picturesq and well maintained throughout. We booked a superior room in the castle and absolutely loved the decor and cosy bed. Breakfast was included and the food was great quality and staff were lovely and catered to my wife's dietary requirements. There was only one problem, the shower outlet pipe was blocked and the tray would fill up meaning you would have to stop the shower occasionally to let it drain . I reported it but unfortunately the next day it was not resolved. I'm still giving five stars as it could have been an oversight and everything else outweighed the minor problem . Overall excellent and we look forward to coming back .

We booked here at the last minute for a night on our way back from touring in Scotland and were not disappointed. We were in a very nice single level room over in the “stables” and it was nice to have the spacious modern feel of the room whilst still being able to enjoy the grand “castle feel” of the sitting rooms and dining areas over in the castle itself. Lovely grounds, beautifully maintained but spoilt by the presence of a ridiculous big teepee (yep a tent!) positioned on the lawns opposite the castle entrance - a mystifying and tasteless management (US owner?) decision indeed.

An impressive building, food and service excellent, room comfortable although disappointed we weren’t in the main building We didn’t have a good view of the grounds as we were in an upstairs room in the cottage with just velux windows, these windows needed a good clean as the paintwork was quite dirty

We came to Langley Castle Hotel for a special birthday night away. The hotel is beautifully restored in a beautiful country location, but unfortunately, it is exhausted. We arrived earlier than the stated check-in time, and luckily, the rooms were ready. The receptionist told us that our rooms were challenging to find because there were no visible signs, and no one bothered to come to show us. At the entrance to The Derwentwater room, the best room in the hotel, according to the reception staff, the first impression was that the light switch was broken. The bathroom was very shabby and not fit for a 4-star luxurious hotel. The De Lucy Room was dusty, and the bed mattress was uncomfortable. After checking in, we decided to drink in the drawing room. No one came to ask us what we wanted, so we had to go to the bar and ask for drinks and menus again and again.The feel was like the staff didn't care much Again, the service at dinner was very questionable and did not correspond to the prices of the "fine dining" experience. The food was tasty, but the portions were tiny, more like tasting menu portions. Regrettably, our stay at Langley Castle Hotel was a significant disappointment. Priced at £350 a night for bed and breakfast, we had expected a far more satisfying experience. Aww, and the bears, which are £25 each, I think they should be included in the price and given as a gift, especially if a child is staying.

We had a lovely overnight here with friends,celebrating a special occasion for them. Our room was comfortable and well appointed although a bit dark (more on that later!) I loved the teddy guarding the room,and of course bought one to take home! Dinner was excellent,served in the stunning conservatory,and we enjoyed a tour of the Castle in he morning. When we got home, I realised I had lost one of my Tiffany earrings in the room, maybe as it was dark! I had no high hopes of it being found,so was delighted when the receptionist phoned to say a guest had found it. It was duly posted to me in Scotland,so many many thanks for making my day! We would love to return one day.

We came for afternoon tea as a staycation treat (we live only around 18 miles away). The tea was beautiful, with generous portions of the most delicious food. The service was thoroughly attentive throughout. The dining room surroundings were splendid, too. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Having been married at the castle 18 years ago, we decided to return with our 2 children. We are never disappointed with staff and accommodation. It was also lovely to see a couple of staff members who were there when we got married. One member of staff (I forgot to take his name - he is a student from Manchester) took time to talk to us and is a credit to the castle, as are all staff. The food was also fantastic. I am always disappointed to leave and look forward to returning for our 20th anniversary, hopefully staying in room 8 without the children .

This is an incredible place to stay. We were lucky enough to stay in a deluxe castle room. The features are obviously second to none. That being said, the hotel seems to rely on the incredible surroundings, and not worry so much about luxury. The bathroom was tired (cracked tiles, loo seat that didn’t fit etc) and the television positioned so you couldn’t watch it from the four poster bed without a post in the central of the screen. Dinner itself was wonderful. The food excellent, imaginative and beautifully presented. This was slightly let down by the exceptionally cold (even in August?) conservatory and staff forgetting to take our order for pre dinner drinks. All in all a good time in truly fabulous surroundings.

I recently got married at Langley Castle, and not only is it’s a beautiful venue but the food was also amazing! We saved in a feature castle room, which was beautiful with a very large bathroom. We have both dinner and breakfast in the castle restaurant which offered a great choice, especially as we are vegetarians and the family with us enjoyed the extensive meat options. The staff were welcoming and helpful, nothing seemed too much of an ask. If you’re looking for a weekend break or a Wedding Venue, I couldn’t recommend Longley Castle more!
