We had a very nice lunch here. Slightly regretted not having the fish n chips and burger as they looked extremely good. Shared a few starters. Mac n cheese, squid, cured trout and a charcuterie board. All good but could be enhanced with more artisan cured meats. Excellent cherry parfait. Service was also spot on.

Luke warm reception from bar/ greeting staff, table staff were great. Sunday roast beef was quite tough, pork belly advertised was loin of pork. Had expected this to be exceptional from website and is in beautiful countryside but would not go again

We enjoyed the Woolpack with very nice staff and great location / ambiance but poor menu selection and it was expensive. I had the egg & aspargus starter which was tasty but two small spears cut in half = two mouthfuls for £12 - ridiculous (note to chef go to Waitrose where 12+ spears from worchestershire are 2.50 !) Sandwiches somewhat sparse filling at 12 for chicken club and 14 for beef ciabatta ! We are not in London or Paris and we left feeling ripped off and hungry ………….

We rented a property nearby for a week, we are a family of 10 adults and 4 children. We booked Sunday lunch here as a Father’s Day treat. We were disappointed. The prices are high and the choice limited. We skipped the starter and chose main meal and dessert to make it more cost effective. The 10 main meals + 3 childrens meals were ordered in advance. On arrival the beef looked delicious, however the two slices I had were very fatty so sadly not much meat, and the small amount of gravy on the plate was soon gone making the rest of the meal quite dry. Sadly, although the meal looked good quality, I didn’t enjoy it. Ordering the desserts we were told that as we were a large group it would be difficult if we all made different choices indeed the waitress needed to ask someone with authority if my husband could have a sorbet which was on the menu . I chose Strawberries and cream, I kid you not, It was two circles of pastry, a teaspoon of cream, and one, yes one! Strawberry cut into quarters with a dollop of ice cream….£10 If it hadn’t been the beginning of our holiday I wouldn’t have paid! Not overly impressed!

Very very poor. We stayed 2 nights in Woodcock room. It had the most awful smell of dampness owing to lack of ventilation- one small window. There was no information about breakfast, timings etc or facilities available. There was a percolator in the room but no coffee. When we asked for some we were told only tea was supplied for the room. On asking someone else next day they gave us a bag of ground coffee and said it should have been delivered. On our second day we returned late in the day to find the room had not been cleaned, no beds made, no new towels, no bins emptied and only the used cup turned back over and 2 new bottles of water. When we complained new towels were delivered. If we were not on a business trip and committed to a schedule we would have walked out after the first night. When we complained in the morning we couldn’t get into the pub until 8.15 and were told there were no managers in until midday. We were told our complaints would be passed on. We couldn’t wait as we had to return home early and would ideally have left at 7 had the pub been open earlier. We have tried sending emails which bounce back and making calls which go unanswered. No one has as yet 5 days later responded to us. The whole experience was appalling and even though it was a cheaper classic room it should never have been occupied. My clothes still smell damp. The room was tiny too. A pleasant pub but one that in our case emphasised their focus on food to the detriment of the accommodation which was way below par. They were unable to issue a VAT receipt for our stay. Although I have seen reviews that were outstanding I can’t replicate that at all and Woodcock room should be avoided!

Quite possibly the best pub burger I’ve ever had - And the roast follows closely behind! Called last minute today to see if they could squeeze 2 of us in for Sunday lunch and we were welcomed in half an hour later. Really friendly staff, warm and relaxed yet classy vibe and WONDERFUL food. Burger - Chargrilled and juicy patty cooked to perfection with delicious burger sauce. I asked for chunky chips instead of fries which were perfectly crispy and fluffy. Roast - Perfectly cooked lamb, amazing yorkshires and apparantlt ‘the best cauliflower cheese’ my fiancé has tasted. Only slight criticism is there was only 1 slice of meat, which seemed a little short for a £24 roast.

We had a mid-week lunch in the restaurant. It's a very lovely, comfortable, traditional, friendly country pub in the middle of some beautiful countryside. The food was absolutely fine but didn't live up to the two rosettes. My burger and chips were pleasant but unremarkable apart from slightly disappointing meat in the burger.

Booked the Easter weekend at this lovely pub. The staff were so friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms are cosy and comfortable. Only suggestion I would make would be to have a little fridge in the room, as they provide fresh milk for the tea and coffee facilities in the room but we had to keep asking for ice buckets to keep the milk cold. The food is exceptional. We had planned to eat in the restaurant on the first night and venture out the second night. But we were so blown away with the quality and service we booked a meal for the second night as well. The breakfast each morning was equally as good. Usually breakfast in hotels is average, but I can honestly say quality was great. Thank you to all the team, you made our stay special. We will definitely be returning.

We had an overall lovely stay mainly due to the friendliness of the staff but it needs to tighten up on a few things. We arrived and were met by the lovely manager (who was great with our toddler) and taken to our room. Room was nice, although smelt of paint, no problem, open the window! We settled in and then found two hair clips from a previous guest attached to the headboard... this didn't inspire a lot of faith in the cleaning regime! More worryingly our toddler then opened the drawer of the bedside cabinet and came out holding two vape pods. I managed to intervene quickly enough to stop them going in her mouth but not ideal. We then went to the bar to watch the rugby which was delightful. Friendly bar staff, friendly locals and England won! Dinner was great, the food was truly exceptional. Service was good although the cheese plate came with three cheeses rather than the four advertised. When I gently pointed this out the fourth cheese appeared... not a big issue but details matter! Breakfast was slightly sub par, we booked the time and it appeared the food had been prepared to be ready on the dot of the start time of the slot. I had bacon and maple syrup pancakes... they had clearly been under a heat lamp and were a bit crispy, not enough maple sauce. Checkout was OK, I had to find a member of staff and then they tried to charge me for the room (I had paid in advance through **********) but we sorted it out amicably after I showed them the receipt. Overall, we'll be back, we had a nice time but a bit of tightening up around the edges is needed!

Great service and main meal but waiting staff non existent thereafter so although we’d have loved a 2nd drink and dessert we were abandoned (don’t know what happened to the efficient waiter who first served us). Was a fav pub but sadly no longer :-(

Popped in for a quick lunch. Had the daily special of scallops with a fennel salad, the crispy squid, beetroot with goats cheese, hazelnuts and a kalamansi sorbet all which were lovely. We also had a charcuterie board which was a little generic. It would have been nice to see some locally produced hams. Still one of the nicest pub/restaurants in the area.

Stayed for a night in October 2023 - I used to live locally, so was already aware of it being a very pleasant, welcoming pub. The room was very small but clean and well-appointed, it would have been nice to have a bedside light and a working TV remote, but not grumbling at the price charged. Very clean, quiet, and I slept well. Sadly had to leave early so I couldn't try breakfast, but they kindly filled a couple of flasks with coffee. Will definitely stay again.

First time at the Woolpack and we will return. We read a couple of recent negative reviews and I’d like to balance this by leaving a positive one.Roast beef & Yorkshire pudding doesn’t get any better than this. Lovely medium rare beef served with beautifully cooked seasonal vegetables - carrot, kale, cauliflower cheese and crispy roast potatoes I had a cheese board for desert which I was pleased to see had local cheeses rather than the usual mundane choices Not cheap but high quality Lovely friendly service Highly recommended

Having read all of the positive reviews prior to our visit we were excited to come for a Sunday roast. To say I left disappointed is an understatement. £24 per roast for 2 very small slithers of meat which was accompanied by an odd, washing up liquid tasting pint. Would not recommend.
