When you hear the name "Desi Thath," typical images might come to mind – coir-rope khaats/chaarpais, mud huts, hookahs, boisterous and inebriated youngsters doing naagin dance, and so on. However, as we unexpectedly discovered, Desi Thath is far from what its name might suggest. When we planned our trip to Sariska Tiger Reserve, Desi Thath Resort wasn’t even on our radar due to its name. This highlights the importance of choosing a relevant and appropriate brand name for businesses, both large and small. We were initially heading to a well-known resort near Siliserh Lake, but as we stopped our vehicle outside Desi Thath Resort, curious about the place, the security guard, Rajendra Chaudhary, waved us in and approached us. Despite our initial hesitation due to the resort's name, Rajendra strongly encouraged us to at least take a look at the property. We reluctantly agreed. Sandeep, the manager at the reception, was courteous and took the time to show us the entire property, including all room categories, the restaurant, lake-view poolside, party lawns, and kids’ play areas. We were pleased to see families enjoying themselves, dancing with Rajasthani folk dancers around a bonfire while relishing piping hot delicacies during high tea. Suddenly, our perception of the property shifted, and we decided to stay. Location: Desi Thath Resort is located on the banks of the beautiful Siliserh Lake. The resort’s boundary wall is just a few feet away from the calm waters of the lake. Guests can enjoy views of the lake from the poolside and lake-facing rooms, which are located in a three-storey building. The resort is approximately 33 km from the 'Zone 1 Gate' (the most popular tiger safari gate) of the Sariska Tiger Reserve and about 71 km from the Tehla Gate Zone. Rooms, Room Service, Maintenance, and Housekeeping: The resort offers five categories of rooms: Luxury Cottages, Premium Cottages, Lake View Cottages (which are actually rooms in a three-storey structure, not cottages), Super Lake View Cottages, and Family Villas. We had the opportunity to stay in the Premium Cottages and Lake View Rooms. Due to the resort being fully booked, we experienced staying in two different types of rooms. The rooms are spacious, with decent amenities. The Luxury and Premium Cottages feature cozy sit-out balconies, adorned with a variety of beautiful plants and flowers. These rooms are ideal for groups, offering a perfect setting to spend time together with drinks and conversation. Fortunately, the guests in these areas kept the volume of their music low, ensuring that others were not disturbed. While the room service and maintenance staff were efficient, the housekeeping could be improved. We saw room service staff rushing to deliver food even past midnight. At one point, we had difficulty setting up our Fire Stick, but Krishna, a maintenance staff member, arrived promptly and resolved the issue with a smile. In one of the rooms, the mattress was a bit uncomfortable
