Elder Grove

Visited over Easter weekend as solo female traveller. Lovely place to stay & hosts so welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. Single room was good size & had a lovely bathroom including a bath with shower & nice toiletries. Furnishings lovely & spotlessly clean. Bed really comfy & nice crisp sheets. A good sleep had each night. If needed there’s a fan & fan heater plus large fleece in wardrobe. Not needed during my stay as room nice & warm. There’s a guest lounge at street level as you enter front door with large TV & games etc. plus an honesty bar/lounge downstairs opposite dining room. Didn’t use this lounge but did look cosy, maybe next time I visit. Breakfast was really good with excellent choices, healthy choices too. Loved the fruit salad & muesli in the individual jars. A nice touch. Homemade marmalade was delicious & local produce used i.e. sausage, bacon, breads, butter, etc. very nice. Excellent location, few minutes walk to town/shops/restaurants & bars plus a bonus of private parking which is a big factor when I choose my accommodation. I visit Lakes 2-3 times a year but this is my first time at Elder Grove. It won’t be my last. Definitely visit again later in year. Thanks again for a great stay & good luck in your new venture.

We have been staying here for over 12 years, often twice a year and the reason we keep returning is simple, its Outstanding! We wouldn't consider anywhere else in Ambleside. Everything from the overall welcome, the fabulous decor, spotlessly clean rooms, to the BEST breakfast is faultless. The location is also a plus point as only a few minutes walk to the many shops, pubs and restaurants that Ambleside has to offer. It is run to a very high standard and Lucy and Matthew are the perfect hosts.

New people are running Elder Grove now. No need to be concered standard have been maintained at a very high level. Our breakfast was excellent, and the room was spotless. For new customers, Elder Grove is situated within a couple of minutes' walk of the centre of town. Another massive plus is its parking for guests.

Very welcoming accommodation .The room was comfortable and had every little luxury you could think of including a sewing kit ! ,which saved the day with my wardrobe malfunction !.Andrea and Giles are great hosts , easy to chat with,creating a lovely family ambiance ,the breakfast was excellent, the whole hotel spotlessly clean, great location together with car parking facilities , we will definitely be back

Fantastic! Immaculate rooms, everywhere sparkling clean and a great choice of teas/coffees supplied. The full ‘Cumbrian’ breakfast is probably the best B&B breakfast I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few), all local produce and it shows. Will certainly visit again and highly recommend. We enjoy our stay in Elder Grove B&B. It is perfectly located to visit Lake District area. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the village of Ambleside. Everything is perfect in Elder Grove: rooms, breakfast. The owners are very nice and helpful for your visits and walks.
