Le 31 B&B Amboise Centre

Alison, the host, is amazing, so informative and helpful. Good location, only minutes from the centre, where there are an abundance of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Room lovely, cool, lovely towels and large walk shower. Breakfast all home made, amazing. Alison and partner Peter were so friendly we felt like we were staying with friends.

Amboise is said to be the perfect town from which to explore the Loire Valley. This is true and we were lucky enough to find the perfect place to stay in Amboise. Actually Le 31 would be the perfect place, no matter where it was in France. Alison and Peter open up their gorgeous town house to you and make you feel like very welcome, long lost friends.  Nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure your time with them is as interesting and comfortable as possible. They are generous with their time in sharing their passion for French culture, customs  and cuisine. The icing on the cake (literally) is that Alison is a trained chef who cooks for you personally and is happy to share some cookery tips with you. Her food is superb and elegantly presented on fine china and silverware. You will feel like royalty: super soft beds, luxury showers, windows looking onto  a quiet, rose filled courtyard, the smell of excellent coffee and fresh pastry wafting up in the morning. Hard to tear yourself away to go sightseeing! (If you do decide to eat out at all then try L’Alliance just round the corner. Don’t be put off by how empty  it may seem. The food is excellent .)  Without a doubt our time at 31 was the highlight of our whole trip.  If you feel like being cosseted, well fed and looked after by two kind and interesting hosts, then definitely treat yourself to a stay at le 31 ! .

To anyone considering a visit to the châteaux of the Loire, Le 31 Amboise is a rare discovery. Alison, your host is charming and offers very useful advice on places to visit and eat. Her house offers a perfect opportunity to relax in rooms that are meticulously decorated and well appointed. Do take the opportunity to view her impressive paintings around the house. Lovely as the bedrooms are set out, you are also treated to a wide choice of home baked bread, croissants and petit fours at breakfast. And do not miss the opportunity to take an evening meal as Alison prepares an excellent array of dishes . It was a memorable stay for us and Le 31 Amboise is the perfect location to match the wonders of the Loire Valley. We'll long remember it and look forward to staying again soon.

I am honestly shocked that this sweet little perfect bed-and-breakfast does not have more reviews on TripAdvisor. It is such a wonderful place and the hostess is one of the kindest and most interesting people I have ever met! I was recently in Amboise with a friend to see the Loire Valley for the first time. I originally booked into one of the five-star hotels, but then decided I would rather have a more personal experience with one of the locals. It was absolutely the right choice! Alison, the hostess, is the most helpful person I have ever come across. She recommended restaurants, found us a driver to go out to the nearby Châteaux, and patiently answered any and all of our questions. Alison also prepares the most delicious breakfast, and bakes all of the pastries herself! As for the B&B itself, I believe it is an old converted stable, or carriage house. Alison has meticulously redone the entire place and the rooms are absolutely charming. The bed-and-breakfast is right in the middle of town and you can walk everywhere. Don’t let the lack of reviews on TripAdvisor keep you from booking a room at this charming little bed-and-breakfast. If you like B&B’s, then you will surely be thrilled with your choice to stay here.

Wonderful stay and an even more wonderful host. Everything about this B&B was beyond our expectations. Bed was comfortable, location is perfect and breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the King Louie room. Allison even packed us a to go breakfast the morning we had to leave early for our train.

We stayed 3 nights at this lovely B&B. Alison and Peter were wonderful friendly hosts who treated us like friends. Alison is an amazing chef and cooked dinner one night for us which was superb. The breakfast choices were better than many 5 star hotels. There were fresh homemade croissants, pastries, cakes, breads, fruit salad, cheeses etc. All freshly made by Alison. It is a 10 min walk to the centre of town so no car needed. Our hosts went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. A really enjoyable stay!!
