Pilot Beach Resort

Just back from a lovely relaxing week at Pilot beach and hope to come again soon. Thanks to all the staff for making out stay so enjoyable. So many plus points: - the rooms are set amongst beautiful, large gardens so even though the hotel was full it still felt relaxing and calm (except maybe at the dinner buffet!). - great location by a beautiful long beach and nice walk to pretty town of Georgioupoli. - good mix of activities including gym, padel tennis, yoga etc. - delicious Cretan food at the restaurants. - friendly and helpful staff. - lovely clean rooms. - fun entertainment: we loved the Greek dancing and the Backstreet boys group! The only minor negatives really were the cold pools and congestion at the breakfast and evening buffets - they need to invest in at least one more coffee machine at breakfast.

Our family of four from the UK has just returned from a wonderful week’s holiday in Crete at the Pilot Beach Resort. Our hopes of a great holiday were fulfilled in every way. Staff: Wonderful, friendly people from reception through to the maids who clean the room. A special shout out to Laura who managed the main bar and made us and our kids feel so welcome throughout. Room: We had chosen a Family Junior Suite which had lovely, clean modern rooms, the main bedroom with a spacious balcony overlooking the pool area. A nice bottle of wine was there to welcome us on arrival. Restaurants: Two of the three restaurants are buffet-style. They are highly organised by the team, very little queuing and dishes never run out. We preferred Restaurant Ariadne by the beach. Food: Excellent…all very tasty and good quality with a lot of variety. All dietary tastes are catered for including healthy options. There was always a good selection of delicious local Cretan options to try. Activities: Clearly advertised daily for kids, teens and adults on digital boards in reception. Our teens played football every day and we tried padel for the first time. Pools: All the pools are very clean and modern. We preferred the main pool as a more interesting and attractive environment near the bar. Entertainment (animation programme): We loved the animation team…so enthusiastic and friendly but without being too in your face. Evening entertainment managed to appeal to two young teen girls…Abba Tribute and Cretan dancing were fun. Beach: Access to the beach is quick and safe via a tunnel. The beach is beautiful, fine golden sand and there were always loungers available. The sea is quite rough but shallow…so the waves were fun and it felt safe (certainly compared to bigger seas in Cornwall that we have safely swum in) Spa: My wife had a massage and a facial. She described both as ‘amazing, a very professional massage, lovely products for the facial’. This is from someone who has had a lot of massages and facials… Price: We were half board for what we felt was a reasonable price. Whilst there we had to pay for drinks and these were priced a little higher than bars in Georgioupolis (as you would expect on a 5 star resort) but still very reasonable. Georgioupolis: A 20 minute walk along the gorgeous beach and you can walk around the nice little town of Georgioupolis...it was nice to have the opportunity to have a different experience to the resort

Excellent hotel with perfect service. Very clean, nice pools and excellent and safe beach area. Food was really good (allinclusive). Nice activities and evening program. No need to visit anywhere else if want to have relaxing resort experience. Definitely would visit again.

The Pilot Beach is beautifully embedded in the surrounding landscape with many well-maintained plants, a very nice pool, many leisure facilities such as a tennis court, outdoor cinema and direct beach access. The staff are very friendly and helpful with everything. The food is very varied and of high quality (watch out - you will put on weight :-)). We could write a lot more, but better - just try it out...

It is a lovely place to be especially with children. Mainly because of the well maintained beach and various swimming pool arrangements. The beach has this super-fine sand and you can walk with a child for a long distance into the water. The hotel has organised many deck chairs and parasols around the swimming pools and the beach. The view from the Gialos restaurant facing the infinity pool and the beach is heartwarming. A special mention should be the very active animation team of the hotel. There were very interesting and fun programs organised for the entire day for children as well as adults. The entire animation team was very kind and hospitable. Some things, which were extremely disappointing were the food and the rooms. The food was very very salty. Most of the items in the menu were repetitive and nothing so special. However, the gyros in both Kronos and Gialos was very tasty and also certain items in the dessert. The cocktails in all the restaurants are not even worth mentioning. The fish was never fresh! The restaurant staff were probably very stressed out and (except a few) were never presenting themselves with a warm face. The rooms definitely needed renovation. We had a family room on the ground floor, facing the sea. We were very happy with the location and the amount of space inside, but it was full of ants, all the time. The toilets stink like anything passing it to the entire living space. This is because there is something about the drainage system there. But overall, the experience was amazing in spite about these issues because all the positive points mentioned in this review made it a good vacation. If the hotel takes care of the rooms and the improves the food, we would like to come here every year! I really wish they do something about it.

We've visited Pilot Beach Resort two years in a row with our very young children (1 and 3 years old) and it's been a wonderful experience both times. The beach is amazing, clean, safe and with (most of the time) calm waters. It’s ideal for families. The rooms are as shown in the pictures and being close to the beach is definitely worth it. The buffet options at all the restaurants are excellent. The appetizers and main courses are always well-prepared and there’s something for everyone. However, for the desserts, only a few really stood out. The kid’s corner restaurant is great, it is open during the day until 5PM. In 2023, we noticed it was a bit dirty but they’ve made more efforts in 2024 to keep it clean. The variety of food for kids is fantastic, although I wish they had boiled vegetables in the buffet options (like in all the other restaurants). The staff is wonderful, always friendly and accommodating to families. Over two years, we never had a single disappointment with the service. There’s also a new playground near the football grounds for kids aged 3 and up, which is a fantastic addition! I only wish they had something there for children under 3. Almost every night, there are 2 to 4 events or shows, all worth attending. Our kids especially enjoyed the mini-disco and magician shows. On a practical note, we had to visit the nearby hospital during our stay and the staff there were excellent. We felt very secure and the doctors were professional and attentive. Thank you Pilot Beach Resort for giving us amazing family memories! We came here twice during a time when we desperately needed rest and fun with our little ones and both visits exceeded our expectations!
