We made a return visit to this lovely hotel in Appenzell which was every bit as good as we remembered it. After a warm welcome at check- in we were delighted by our room which overlooked the village square. The room was generously proportioned and beautifully furnished. It is a fascinating hotel with many interesting swiss and family items on display. Everything in the hotel was always immaculately clean and well maintained. The staff were excellent and very interested in their guests. The food was also very good and we often had the opportunity of talking with the owner and the chef. The Appenzeller Card offers visitors plenty of variety for exploring the area including free local train travel and some cable ways in this beautiful region. We had a really good nine nights stay and plan to visit again in the near future.

This hotel is charming and very clean. The hotel staff are very attentive. The continental breakfast is the best I have ever had — fresh baked pastries & breads, yogurt, juices, and delicious coffee. The location is excellent and 5 minutes from the train station. I highly recommend!

Great place to stay in the heart of Appenzell. The rooms were quite comfortable and the beds were good. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. I particularly enjoyed opening the windows of our room and listening to the church bells ringing in unison all across the valley to mark some special occasion (I think it was the end of the week-end). I wish I had more time to spend walking around the countryside.

I would consider it a classic old european hotel. Very fitting for the town of Appenzell. No elevators so you have to bring up your bags by the stairs. Small hallway, room and bathroom. Tight bedroom with a soft bed that was way to low to the floor. No A/C so we needed to keep windows open at night. Euro Cup was going on so a lot of car honking after the match that night. The Swiss must of won that night. Part of the fun when you travel. The shower was of good size with great pressure. Located in the center of town with parking in the plaza and in a near by garage. Staff at the front desk, wine later in the evening and at breadkfast where all very nice. The hotel is known for its exstensive wine selection. Had a glass ot two and they are right. Delicious.

We stayed there for a night. It was excellent and remarkable stay. The hotel reception to our room was spotless and very clean. Each area I touched with my hand even on the photos… no dust. It was my enjoyable stay in raining night.It was four generations family run hotels. This morning we had good breakfast… I will love to go back there one more time. The hotel staffs were very helpful.

What an incredible place with such a rich history! Reception was wonderful. Very helpful with recommendations. We had one of our favorite dinners ever in the restaurant with wonderful service and delicious local food, wine, and whiskey. Great bed, shower, and view of the square with church bells ringing. Loved looking at all the historic pictures and knick knacks. We loved Appenzell, and highly recommend Romantik Hotel Santis!

We were part of a tour group and the hotel was just perfect. We had a huge room and bathroom, with a walk in shower which was just so appreciated. Dinner and breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of options available. The staff were efficient and friendly. Perfect location for the old town (so many little shops and restaurants to explore) and a couple of supermarkets within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

I am a travel agent and have twice now brought a group of 30 Americans to this hotel with a tour company. Both times rooms and keys were ready upon arrival and we were happily received. Reception as always - was most pleasant. Evening group dinner was great and the waiter was truly a delight. I have stayed alone with my husband at this hotel several times many years ago and love their rooms, each one carefully and lovingly decorated. As for the breakfast - of course it is European, with excellent bread, butter, eggs, jams and cheeses. I would certainly recommend this hotel - even thought there is construction going on next door - which does not happen at night so no worries about sleeping - and during the day you should be out and about exploring anyway.
