Hôtel Villa-Lamartine

Price of a 4* hotel but the service / rooms / amenities do not follow. No minibar offering, no water bottles or small welcome snack (as it normally always is the case in such hotels), and apart from the rooms themselves the amenities are very basic. But above all the rooms' decor is very singular and certainly not to everyone's taste. Also, the main areas are basic and smelly. We never paid so much for a hotel (almost €300 for one night) for so low a quality.... highly disappointed

I hope my review will save someone from the disappointment i got. Please, be careful! I was robbed during the stay, someone stole my small diamond pendant, though it was accurately placed inside my jewelry box. It was very ingenious robbery in the last day of our stay, we were lucky we were just going to another hotel, not flying home. Hotel handled situation horribly. I was not claiming for money or blaming someone, i just asked to check cctv cameras. They could not do it because they don’t have access code, they called their boss and told me that there is no estimate when they can reach him - “He is a big boss, who knows”(c). They also went to check my room to see if pendant was there because they were constantly blaming me that I forgot my pendant somewhere or lost it in my room. And this might sound possible but if they checked cameras they would see me coming with pendant to the room the night before and as it was brand new pendant I was really careful about it, even i found out the robbery because i was checking if it was in the box when checking out. After we filed the police report we came back to the hotel and they told there was noone coming to the room, they watched cameras. But they didn’t show the record to us. Need also to mention that reception works only from 8 a.m. till 20 p.m., after that they close the door and leave, leaving all the keys openly near reception. On one night we came back at 11 p.m. and the main door was opened widely, noone at reception, keys just lying there (. So, please, be careful there, take all your valuable belongings with you, also try to carry the key with you. (Though, it is one really heavy and big key!)

A lovely hotel with friendly staff and centrally located between the sea and the train station. We had a cosy room that was well designed for its compact size. Great breakfast in the nice dining room beside the reception. Overall great experience.
