An amazing experience from start to finish, each and every employee was exemplary! Room was absolutely beautiful with the most amazing views of the sea! Food in both the bar and the house restaurant were exceptional! Breakfast was also excellent! An incredible way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! Thanks so much to everyone at cliff house for a truly fabulous weekend!

My wife and I had a short break at the Cliff House Hotel. I had often heard about it but had never been. Right from the very start this was a celebration of old world elegance. I don't mean that the hotel is tired. Far from it. Everything is modern and very well maintained. The rooms are beautifully appointed and by fiendish contrivance all have sea views. The rooms run down the face of the Cliff. Our room had a balcony. There is a cliff garden which runs between the balconies. We ate dinner at the bar which was very pleasant. Our breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever enjoyed. With valet parking and your bags transferred as if by magic to your room there is a strong sense of being minded right from the start. Which of us doesn't need a little minding? The staff are wonderful. All pleasant and smiling. A particular mention for Patrick who met us on arrival and was such a gentleman making us feel instantly at home. He also rescued us when he found us wandering lost around the hotel for which I am grateful! In short this is a wonderful hotel and a lovely experience. I can't wait to come back.

I stayed one night with my girlfriend. Our room was lovely and the sea view was very picturesque. We were booked in for a 3 course meal in the bar. It was noted in advance that I was a vegan when making the booking and some of the sample menus on their website had previously showed a vegan option. Unfortunately, the actual menus didn’t have any vegan option so I had to ask for one and then it became awkward as they didn’t seem to have anything prepared. Most of the staff were polite and tried to help but I felt awkward and embarrassed as I waited anxiously for them to come up with something whilst they had already brought my girlfriend her starter (non vegan) 15 minutes before they came up with something for me. The whole service was a mess and we felt very uncomfortable. They then brought me TOAST as a starter after my girlfriend had already finished her starter (which was hot so she couldn’t wait). For my main they brought me what I would describe as a side serving of vegetables (that’s possibly what it was). It consisted of 4 bites of broccoli, 4 tiny baby carrots, and a small piece of asparagus, with a tomato and lime dressing. It would have made a lovely starter. The dessert was adequate but too little too late (sorbet with berries) The whole experience was a horrific dining disaster and not even close to a 5 star experience that would be expected after paying so much. I still cannot believe how unorganized they were or how they can actually think it’s ok to give me toast as part of a 3 course meal. My girlfriend thought her food was nice but nothing special. They brought her no potatoes or veg with it and never came to check if everything was ok so I had to call someone. The whole meal was something like you’d see in Fawlty Towers. The breakfast the next day was a lot better in terms of being prepared and making me feel welcome and valued. But there still was no vegan option on the main menu and even the porridge was made with dairy milk and not offered as an option to be made with water. The food provided was quite basic and average for me but I was really happy that there was no drama or long awkward wait. The bar itself is really poor and not what you’d expect in a hotel. There is zero atmosphere or life at night. No music or any attempt to entertain or create a pub atmosphere. It felt like they just wanted us to drink up and leave…. so we did. We also had mid afternoon food in the bar when we first arrived and again, no vegan option. They gave me a cheese option from the menu without the cheese and charged me the same price for a few leaves, some beetroot and one walnut. There is a “gym” but it’s just 4 or 5 cardio machines side by side (elbow to elbow) crammed in a tiny room. It felt like a tick the box effort to claim they have a gym. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and the staff were all lovely but the bar service is shockingly bad. Considering how expensive this hotel is, I will not be returning as it didn’t feel even clos

We stayed here for three nights with our children and my parents. It was an incredible experience. The setting is exquisite - a peaceful village and beautiful cliffs overlooking the bay. The hotel is incredibly quaint and peaceful. The staff are amazing - wonderful human beings who made us, including my children, feel so welcome. The food at the restaurants is great (maybe a couple more kid-friendly options). Our entire family, from my 4-year old to my parents, can’t wait to come back and stay for a longer period of time.

Amazing holiday experience! Service - location - hospitability - exceptional quality lodging and cuisine - the Cliff House is one of the best experiences we have had in 44 years of marriage. From arrival to departure - absolutely fabulous visit. Highly recommended.
