Parador de Arties

Location in the middle of the village of Arties is fantastic and hotel service is really great. The only inconvenients are small bathrooms and small swimming pool.

Artíes is a beautiful village, we travelled at the very end of the winter season so it was very quiet . An issue of visiting end of season is that they run out of some of the dishes at the restaurant but there were other good options so not a big deal. The bar and restaurant were great as usual with Paradores. We booked a duplex room, It was fairly compact and one ends up hitting oneself on the low ceiling or the spiral staircase. The room was cute but VERY VERY tired (and dark) there is an urgent need to update those rooms. The worst thing for us was the quality of steep. A hotel's main raison d’être is to provide a good night's sleep and it was a shame that it really was terrible, we did not sleep well over the 4 nights we were there. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, lots of pillows available though. The biggest problem for us was the central heating, it cannot be regulated locally so the bedroom area was quite warm; we mentioned this to the Reception team who told us to open the window, what a terrible waste of energy when Paradores take pride on their sustainability initiatives. So, we did open the windows but then had to be closed when it got too cold and so on and so forth through the night, with the additional bonus of the chorus of lovely birds from the early hours to keep you awake just as you were about to drift off out of pure tiredness. I would have also expected to have had some room comforts like robe and sleepers, specially to go down to the swimming pool; we did ask at Reception for that very reason but we were told that there was a changing room in the gym. Overall, except for the poor quality of sleep, it is a lovely mountain parador and Artíes and the surrounding area are beautiful. On departure, I mentioned the above to the Reception team (Nuria) who mentioned that there's a renovation programme in the cards which is great news and hope to visit again when it is completed.

A walk in so I guess I paid extra. Very helpful staff. Room in poor condition, bed smaller than headboard, bedside cabinets too far from bed, bath plug wouldn’t seal, battered decor. No tea/ coffee facilities in room - had to travel length of hotel to get hot drink. No coffee available in morning until 8am! It’s a hotel!! And not a cheap one. Poor, would not return.

This hotel was an unexpected surprise! Located in a lovely little village surrounded by mountains, it has a very cosy feel from the moment you roll into the car park. Staff were very welcoming and efficient at checking us in and allocating our room. The room was quite large with a very ample en-suite bathroom and a big comfy bed. There is nothing to not like about this hotel, I can just imagine being holed up here in mid-winter enjoying the excellent food and cosiness of the hotel. If I had to be nit-picky the only points I can think to add is that I couldn't get the air-con to work and the room was quite warm. The bathroom, while lovely, has lethally slippery tiled floors when wet, so be careful when leaving the shower! Would love to return here one day and take in more of the hotel and the surrounding areas.

Comfortable and quiet, with nice rooms and public areas, good bar service and decent food. Worth a stop if in the locality. Parking is handy, and access to the road network is good. We had too little time to sample the gym or pool.

Unhelpful staff on reception, parts of the hotel not open rooms dated and some furniture and fitting broken. No views from the bedroom to the location of the windows. Lack of elevator to access the room coupled by no help from the reception staff
