Rivertrees Country Inn

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Rivertrees outside Arusha, Tanzania before embarking on our safari with Thomson Safari Company. What a great introduction to Tanzania. We would like to commend the wait staff in the restaurant where we had three meals a day. The food and service were very good. Nelson, Deborah, and Emanuel, among others, were so attentive. We knew we would be traveling for over a week in Land Rovers and decided to imbibe the peacefulness and beauty of this large, lovely property before setting out for Tanzania's awesome national parks. Our large cottage on the River meant that we went to sleep and woke up to the sounds of rushing water. We looked for birds and monkeys on our walks along the river each day, enjoyed massages, and sat around the fire in the late afternoons to chat with other guests. As for the food, we especially liked the large and varied breakfast buffet and the ability to order from the menu at the same time with no limitations. We are not exactly "foodies" but you won't ever go hungry at Rivertrees.

We arrived late (1am) from the US and stayed through the next day and the following night, which worked out great. It allowed us to get acclimated before heading out on our safari. The grounds were lovely, especially enjoyed the blue monkeys and the river. The accommodations were wonderful - plenty of room and all of the amenities. Great hospitality and very good food. We also stayed just for the day on our return, which again worked out really well and was very reasonably priced. So glad our travel agent recommended starting and ending our trip this way.

We had a great stay at the Rivertrees Country Inn, notably thanks to a very helpful staff and great food. Special thanks to Rasheed who took very good care of us throughout our stay. We loved the fact that nature was all around and the pizza oven was a good surprise too.

We hosted our event at RiverTree, and it was a fantastic experience. The venue was stunning, with beautiful surroundings that added to the atmosphere. The staff were professional and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent, with a variety of options that satisfied all our guests. From the setup to the service, everything was top-notch. The facilities were perfect for both work and relaxation, offering a comfortable and productive environment. Highly recommend RiverTree for any event!

We have stayed for one night at Rivertrees Lodge at the end of our safari before flying back home the next morning. The premise of the lodge is very nice - especially the river with a little river walk next to it..... The accomodation was clean and reasonable. Two small issues have been addressed to the staff..... the fan could not be used at night as it was very loud (maybe loose?). WiFi in our room didn't work - only in the restaurant. Probably some issues with the access point covering our villa..... Regarding the food we rate the dinner being average with some room for improvement in quality and attentiveness of staff..... The breakfast was very good with lots of choice - even different kinds of berries. Overall it´s good for a stopover at the beginning or the end of a safari.

I travel to Tanzania every year to volunteer at FAME hospital in Karatu. Whenever I can, I try to start my trip at Rivertrees because of it's perfectly peaceful setting along a river with large shade trees, comfortable beds, and great food. The beds are beyond welcoming and comfortable. I also love the soaking tub, the light filled rooms and all the amenities. On this last trip, two Dorothy and Jennifer, who work at the front desk were extraordinarily helpful arranging taxis, a coordinating a quick safari to see the Giraffes who reside in Arusha National Park. Mornings with coffee by the river are a relaxing way to start the day, and a cocktail after a long dusty trip by the pool is the perfect way to wind down. I highly recommend this comfortable, warm and welcoming lodge.
