Dartmoor Lodge Hotel

Lovely little place packed Sunday carvery not sure what that Rodney fella is on a bout funnily enough he reviewed quite a few places that same day and opted for a branded chain pub with over 300 pubs nationwide which means they get better prices on beer an food nice and classy , Dartmoor lodge is a solo business recently took over a couple of years ago by a new owner try to improve the lodges offering better standard of food at good affordable prices again no cheap pre cooked garbage at green kings…. So much for supporting local businesses… you can’t buy class I suppose but Dartmoor lodge is a beautiful venue offering the best local home cooked food they can.

Not quite sure if the review by Rodney given on 7/11 is genuine? If so he needs to give his head a wobble. He reviewed a number of places in Ashburton on the same day very negatively, maybe he had a bad day ? Anyway, We found this place to be clean, comfortable and good value for money. Just had an excellent meal in the restaurant. Attentive and courteous staff. Would visit again.

We hosted our business meeting in this amazing venue for the weekend we had amazing food from the chef pork belly to the mango posset at the main restaurant on Sunday and Saturday night a stunning bar service from the 2 barman’s Jack and Archie that handled service always with a smile. I will advise u to try their little lodge gin and vodka. I will go next time for sure.

We stopped off for Sunday - we had not booked and boy we will next time! We ate in the bar, which was fine - as the food was SUPERB hot tasty and so well cooked not a mushy veg in site ,and, proper roast potatoes crunchy and fluffy yummy. Only shame for us we are 90 mins away, lucky people in Ashburton! Well done!

I am embarrassed to admit this place is on my doorstep and yet today was my first visit for lunch, on the recommendation of a friend. What a find! An extensive menu, with large and small plates, light bites and baguettes, catering for all dietary requirements. The warm welcome, friendly conversation and the choice of bar/casual seating or formal dining in the restaurant suited both hikers, walkers and travellers, and those celebrating a birthday and larger groups in the restaurant Service was prompt and attentive, the food was beautifully presented, piping hot and delicious Plenty of parking available and just a moment from the A38 Sunday carvery also comes highly recommended along with a number of special evening offers we’re looking forward to trying, and for more casual outdoor dining, Little Lodge also on site, is definitely on the bucket list! Well done guys, extremely impressed

Had the most gorgeous carvery after a day on the moors. Food and service was excellent and fantastic value for money. We popped in on the off chance as we hadn't booked and the staff were more than happy to accommodate us. Always a good reflection on a restaurant when it's really busy late on a Sunday afternoon.
