Athens Central Hotel

Great place. Very friendly staff. Great location

Our one night stay at Athens Central was the final night of our 12-night journey through 10 states. We chose Athens as our destination as it was approximately the halfway point of the final leg of our trip. While the first eleven nights were at lovely chain properties, I wanted my head to rest in Athens within walking distance of the Ohio University area restaurants and bars. Athens Central accomplished that objective. The words that come to mind in describing Athens Central would be sleek, eclectic and memorable. Lobby and interior hallways are small & cramped, but our guest room was large & comfortable. I found bed to be too soft. Beautiful shower. Huge floor to ceiling picture window in our room overlooking an Athens intersection. If walking around town, be mindful of somewhat steep hills & uneven brick streets. Athens Central staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate. It appeared to me that the breakfast offerings were what the breakfast attendant was whipping up at the moment. While we were enjoying our eggs, sausage & biscuits (at 8am), the breakfast attendant told the next couple who arrived to hang on a few minutes as he would be preparing fried potatoes. No issue, just not what we've become so accustomed to at chain property breakfasts. I don't know that we will have the opportunity to visit Athens again, but pleased with my decision to stay at Athens Central. Mission accomplished!

This hotel and staff are top notch. They were awesome from check in to check out. It was clean and beautiful. It is the best hotel in Ohio hands down. Beds were super comfortable as well. I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Parking was great too.

The room and hotel are very neat and clean. The large windows bring in a lot of light, and the bathroom is spacious with a nice walk-in shower with multiple functions. The only issue is the noise. You can hear your neighbors pulling the blinds up or down and using the bathroom. The hotel is on a busy intersection at the edge of campus, and the noise from the street is non-stop. One of the streets is made of brick, which seems to make it worse. If you're a heavy sleeper, or you can sleep with earplugs or don't mind a sleepless night, it's not a bad choice due to its walking distance to campus.

This is a great place to stay if you need a place in athens very nice staff free parking close to court street wont syay anywhere else but ac hotel.you wont regret staying here the rooms have a nice view the owners treat you like faimly. And it is very clean

Incredibly disappointed with this experience. To start, there was a pile of dirty sheets bunched up on our bed when we walked in the room. Secondly, and more importantly - the fire alarm went off on Saturday morning -- only to later walk into my room to see a $200 "Smoking Charge" laying on our floor. NONE OF US SMOKED. I expressed my concern with the front desk, and actually spoke with the owner over the phone and explained how this is a mistake, and either an aerosol can must have triggered it, or something was faulty. The owner I spoke with was rude and not understanding that this could possibly be an error on their end, as again, none of us are smokers. Ended up eating the charge because it was not worth arguing with them anymore. This was my third and certainly my last time staying at this hotel.

Best location to uptown restaurants and nightlife, but paper thin walls, hard surface floors, and constant street noise made our stay here miserable. Stark modern style and decor is unique, and could have made for a cool experience, but the SLOW check-in, and previously mentioned all night noise had us ready to leave before the sun came up. Room and property were clean, and bed was very comfortable, but even though our room didn't face either street (hotel is on a busy corner) we heard constant car and street noise all night. This combined with the clicking and clacking of shoes above us, in the halls, and all around, along with the late night revelers returning from midnight till after 3am made sleep impossible. Wife resorted to ear plugs, but still couldn't manage more than a few interrupted sleep. The never ending sounds from the adjoining room (toilet flush, TV, shades being raised and lowered, etc...) combined with the HVAC and other ambient noises were just never ending. Didn't even try the breakfast, as we finally gave up when the street noise started back up about 6am and we packed and left for home. Wanted to like the place, really did, but can't recommend. Three stars because it was clean and in a great location, but service and so noisy we left exhausted. We paid a
