Monument

We stayed at the Monument hotel in Athens for 2 nights & absolutely loved it. The hotel is very stylish and only has a few rooms. The internal walls in the hotel are all made of plaster (no paint) but it works really really well & you can tell that a great deal of thought has gone into the design of this hotel. The rooms are very comfortable (nice quality bedding and Molton Brown toiletries) but not massive - although if you are out sightseeing all day, then it doesn't matter too much.........however next time we will definitely book a bigger & more expensive room! The breakfasts are really really good - there is a small continental buffet table & also a small menu of very interesting a la carte items which are all included in the price. The staff here all fantastic and so helpful - and we must mention in particular, the lovely reception staff (including Maria & Lia) who helped us with sending some clothes back to us in the UK when my husband realised that he had left 2 pairs of trousers and 2 jumpers in the hotel room by mistake when we checked out!! The courier company DHL were quoting us Euros 170 however when we asked the hotel staff if they could check cheaper options, they managed to arrange a local collection for Euros 50 - which arrived in the UK a couple of days later - amazing - thank you so much - my husband was so pleased!! Athens is a really big city with lots of different neighbourhoods centred in and around the city. The location of the Monument hotel also suited us really well - it is situated in Psirri which is also quite close to Monastiraki. From here, you can walk to most of the main places in central Athens in 30 mins or less. I would highly recommend this hotel f you are looking for a really special & individual boutique hotel in the centre of Athens.

Loved this sweet and charming boutique hotel in Plaka in Athens. Conveniently located next to the most amazing restaurant ever and also a great shopping/ walking/ bar hopping/ bakery restaurant district. The staff was exceptionally gracious and accommodating and the design of the hotel impeccable. The included breakfast was out of this word excellent.

What a fantastic find! Monument boutique hotel is outstanding, you may be a little surprised by your surroundings when you first arrive but this hotel is fantastic, as is the location. The staff were what took the experience to the next level, they could not have been more genuinely friendly, helpful and accommodating. When we left it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. The area is full of wonderful restaurants and bars and you're right in the heart of the old city with its mix of odd shops and fantastic coffee shops/roasteries. Now the breakfast needs its own mention, I think this may be the best breakfast I've experienced in a hotel, all cooked to order. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Athens.
