We have just returned from a long weekend in Athens. We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. It is a great location very close to the centre of Athens. There are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants nearby and easy to access transport links to the airport and tourist attractions. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They gave us recommendations for restaurants and bars. They advised us about the best times to visit attractions and ways to get there. They made us feel very welcome, from our arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. We couldn’t fault them and were excellent value for money. We will definitely return.

Excellent experience staying here in the Alter Athens hotel. Aris and Vasilis were so welcoming and friendly. Vasilis (the teacher!) taught me some very useful phrases in Greek! Efharistó Vasilis! Great location in Athens. Close to everything. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars close by. My room was so comfortable. Very clean. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom facilities so nice, beautiful toiletries. Slippers also provided. Small fridge in room with bottles of water replaced daily. Remote control operated air con which had dual function - could be used to cool the room or heat it. I highly recommend this hotel. Excellent value for money. I look forward to my next stay! The host, Billy, Vassilli, is truly exceptional. The most welcoming host we have experienced. The rest of the team not far behind. For the price the superior room we had was very good, fridge, coffee making facilities, welcome pastries. Location looks a little rough but anything but. A ten to fifteen walk to two restaurents Vassilli recommended, Ama lucia and Rozalia both brilliant. Black salami sandwich bar. Really felt we were in Athens proper. Room was spotless, bed comfortable. For sensitive sleepers pack ear plugs to combat air conditioning. Vassilli will arrange transfers for you at very fair price I e less than GMG or Viator. If you are going to Athens stay here. P s Vassilli always happy to gave a chat over a beer with you. Hop on hop of bus about 12 minutes walk away, most places within 20 minutes. Update, after leaving we had the misfortunate of having a flight cancelled. The airline could not help with accommodation etc, 5.30 a.m. with the new flight due at 17.30 (having been in airport since 15.00) Rang hotel, sorted out. Huge thank

Arista is a FANTASTIC host who truly cares about your experience in Athens. He took the time to make us a coffee, gave us bottles of water every time we came back from our adventures in Athens, allowed us to chill out and freshen up before our evening flight, booked us a taxi to the airport and recommended the most incredible restaurant called Rozalia around a 7 minute walk from the hotel. He honestly was the most kind and caring host. We 100% recommend this hotel! The rooms are very spacious, the decor is very modern and the hospitality we received was truly wonderful. We will be returning in the near future.

Arista is by far the most welcoming host that my partner and I have ever met. I needed extra pillows as I live with an lot of pain and he gave me a choice of 3 types, as many as I needed, and even offered to contact his doctor friend if I needed something more specialist. He always offered us coffee in the morning and a drink with him in the evening. When I told him it was my birthday he left me a gift. He told me where the nice places were to go, marked them on a map, booked taxis for us, helped us plan an island trip, would give us water every day… The hotel itself is really nice and clean, very comfortable, cool decoration, good showers and aircon. Five stars from us - thank you Aris, you are a gentleman! Xx

The hotel is situated a 20 min walk from Syntagma square (city centre). When we arrived, the area felt a bit rough around the edges at first but this was a misconception on our part. When the evening came the restaurant’s opened up and the streets filled with life. The hotel itself was absolutely lovely and I really cannot say enough good things about the manager and the staff. They were so accommodating and lovely during our entire stay, always recommended places to see, providing water or whatever beverage we would’ve wanted when coming back after a full day of exploring. The manager even provided his number to keep if anything happened when we were out! The level of English was very good, no communication issues at all. The room was brilliant, big and with a very comfy bed! Big bathroom and everything was super clean and comes with tea and coffee. Lastly, there are two supermarkets within a 2 min walk from the hotel so if you don’t want to eat out every night there are options. If you go to Athens, this is a brilliant place to stay! The hotel was conveniently located, clean, comfortable and freshly decorated. Despite arriving at 2am for check-in, the owner had saved us on-street parking and provided us with refreshments on arrival. Very good value for money and extremely helpful host who was kind and knowledgeable. All in cannot rate the hotel highly enough for value and service.

Alter Hotel è un piccolo hotel situato nel cuore urbano di Atene, fuori dalla zona strettamente turistica, ma abbastanza vicino dalle principali fermate della Metro (15 min. a piedi da Omonoia). Il quartiere che lo ospita all'apparenza può sembrare disagiato e trascurato, ma in realtà si tratta di una zona popolare che ospita circoli culturali, piccolo negozietti e numerosi locali serali. La camera si è rivelata pulita, comoda e funzionale oltre che abbastanza spaziosa per due persone. Menzione speciale la merita l'intero staff e lo stesso proprietario, sempre disponibili, cordiali e pronti a soddisfare ogni minima richiesta.
