Hiva Oa Hanakee Pearl Lodge

We are on a sailboat and took advantage of their 10am to 4pm offer with lunch and taxi to/from the port. The pool is lovely as is the staff, and the food. We then came back for dinner, again with the taxi to/from the port. Excellent! What bliss after so long afloat!

This is one of the few accommodations on Hiva Oa, and while a bit pricey, I was not sure what to expect. We stayed here prior to visiting another Pearl Lodge (which had similar bungalows but more updated) so part of my perspective is influenced by the other property. The lodge itself is high in the hills above town (and not an easy journey for self-navigation though they offer a shuttle in the morning and afternoon). The views are great from the property overlooking the town and water. The bungalows themselves are all similar just with different vantage points. We had a nice ocean view from our balcony. The room itself was a little dated and could stand some freshening up (e.g., my window screen had tears) though comfortable. It also had a small outside deck. The hotel offered excursions (really good) and the restaurant was good (even though you were a bit of a captive audience). They also ran a show two nights a week with Marquesan dancing and song. Since you are captive, suggest going with Full Board (not a lot of options in town). Lots of roosters, so make sure to bring or use the provided ear plugs!

Accueil chaleureux à l’aéroport par le boss avec collier de fleurs 🌷 🌸 Confirmation que cet hôtel a certainement l’un des plus beaux emplacement des marquises. Le personnel à la volonté du bien accueillir du bien faire, du bien servir, on peu regretter je pense un manque de formation des équipes pour les détails du service, (tables débarrassées à 21h «pétantes »avec un certain stress qui l’accompagne pour le client afin de ne pas mettre en retard les équipes. ….le dijo et bien non 🥺😉pour l’apéro il faut faire vite. (L’apéro a 20h le repas, puis la suite sont à bannir 🥺) …meilleure pour la santé. 😄 La restauration est d’un bon niveau. L’hôtellerie fait ressortir des chambres qui sont fanées…..avec une propreté douteuse. (Au moins la 3) Un plancher dans notre chambre ne permet pas l’écoulement de l’eau du bac à douche facilement…..au delà de la praticité cela n’est pas rassurant, puis rentrer dans sa douche le premier soir avec un reliquat d’eau…..espérons propre et non des clients précédents….la question a été posée 😕 et nous aurions apprécié de ne pas nous la poser. ! Notre coffre ne fonctionnait pas, après appel à la réception le problème a été géré. Quelques investissements s’imposent monsieur le directeur. On aurait apprécié un au revoir de la direction (certainement occupée ) se qui nous aurait permis d’expliquer ce qui précède, tout cela dans une démarche de bienveillance. Bonne continuation.
