They priced gouged me during the Saviour's day event and gave me the most disgusting room they had. I wouldn't have put an animal in that dump. $250 per night! They reluctantly gave me another room which wasn't much better, but how could you expect anyone to pay more than $25 for that dump. Filthy, disgusting and disrespectful.

Very run down, bugs under the bed mattress . We didn’t stay. Walked out and now fighting for our refund. Looks like they are attempting to update but it’s not there yet. Staff was nice to us but *********** giving us the run around.

Prior to lockdowns we'd stayed at this hotel a few times and enjoyed its amenities and that it overlooks a small lake at the back. So I didn't hesitate to book it again. I wish now I had. I should have sensed something wrong when I opened the Choice Hotel web site a week before arrival to check on a couple of the amenities and discovered that, unless I clicked through my emailed confirmation, the hotel would not come up. I even phoned the hotel to confirm they were still part of the Choice Hotel chain and received assurances that they had heard there had been some issues with the web site following a power failure. Upon arrival I noticed some work going on with the exterior and then observed that some of the lobby had been used to store building materials. Still, no indication of the deterioration we would encounter. That awaited us on entry to our room. The photos tell most of the story. Dirty walls and furnishings. We considered leaving right away, but decided we could manage, heading off for some shopping and dinner. It was the discovery of an energetic insect scurrying across the bed after we had returned that was the last straw. We booked a room at the (superb) Quality Inn down the street and informed the front desk that we wanted a refund. The clerk was actually professional but explained that he didn't have the authority, and would await his manager in the morning. I had thought the matter was resolved when my bank notified me of the refund the next day. However, two days later, one night's charge appeared back on my card. I contacted Choice Hotels who explained their authority could not compel a refund, but they made other arrangements quite to my satisfaction. I let them know I'd be writing this review, and there was no objection. Previous good experiences with this property have made me wonder what happened. No doubt the lockdowns created big problems, but those would also have affected the Quality Inn about a block away and our experience there was by contrast excellent. There really isn't a way to justify how a hotelier lets a guest stay in room deteriorated to the level depicted in the photos. This one is still not listed on Choice Hotel's web site (which is one reason I'm writing here), and the Choice agent explained that a full investigation was underway. That's reassuring for the Choice brand, but I don't intend on returning here.

This hotel is decent enough to stay at, but don't expect anything great. The outside of the building looked in bad shape and it appeared like they may be doing some kind of remodeling as there was almost always furniture and lamps in the hallways. Room was basic and fairly clean but had some kind of odor. Only one small elevator for the whole building that was pretty slow. Breakfast is included and had several choices: cereal, waffles, bananas/apples, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bread/bagels. Pool is small and cold, plus for some reason it was only open from 5PM-9PM. Hot tub jets didn't work, and the entire indoor pool area was kind of run down and dirty. Towels were small. Staff was mostly friendly. Location was good, less than 20 minutes to Pine Knob Amphitheater which is what brought us to town. It was also pretty close to Great Lakes Outlet shopping center, which I would definitely suggest any visitors check out. There was a McDonald's, KFC, and Wendy's just a short drive away from the hotel.

Hotel is pretty run down and in need of refurbishment. We had rooms on the second and third floor. Carpet and furniture in both were stained, second floor room light about the sink took more than 20 minute to come on. Curtains weren't hanging correctly making it impossible to close them. Tub bottom on the second floor was,,,,lumpy? Rooms are just super old and stained and dingy. Coffee maker had no tray in which to put the pouch of coffee, no tea offered in room. Breakfast was just a mess. No fresh fruit option, no hot option other than waffles. Milk was off, Bread was stale. We kept reminding ourselves we only paid $66US/night/room,,,, but will absolutely not return or recommend.

I travel frequently and have found Comfort Inn/Suites generally to be a good value and usually well run. This location is a stinker. In my room, I listed the following maintenance items to be addressed: Floor lamp inoperative, hinge on cabinet door broken, closet door handle ready to fall off, missing wheel on the "slide out" desk, torn curtains. The hallways had not been vacuumed. The elevator floor was filthy. In addition, the pool was closed for "maintenance". Meager breakfast of cold cereal, waffles, juice, coffee, hard boiled eggs and very green bananas. The crowning glory was at check out, when I attempted to leave a list of maintenance items with the front desk. Except, no one was at the front desk. The bottom line, take your travel budget some where else.
