This is a good Hampton Inn, but I wouldn’t use it again for a few reasons unless I really needed to be on Washington Road. The pros: I had a room on the 5th (top floor), and the bed was comfortable and the room clean, with a good bathroom and walk-in shower. I needed a room for one night, and got one, at a relatively decent price. Check-in online was easy, and I was pleased to be able to use a digital key, meaning I didn’t even have to stop at the front desk. Breakfast in the hotel was good, and I could checkout using the Hilton app. And it was easy to get into downtown Augusta. The cons: The area around the hotel is busy and crowded with heavy traffic (don’t even think of trying to turn left) and the hotel, nestled well back off the road was hard to find at night, even with GPS. Arriving at 9:15 PM, most parking was taken so I had to park around the side. My king room was smaller than most Hampton Inns, but was fine for just me, but would have been uncomfortable for two, as there was no place to spread out. Nearby I-20 made it noisy, not loud, just a low but constant sound during the night. It didn’t wake me, but when I was awake I always heard traffic. Before breakfast I walked to the nearby Starbucks for a latte and the neighborhood was dirty and littered with trash and beer cans, and little to no sidewalk. Recommendation: The hotel is good, but I have also stayed in the Hampton Inn Augusta West and found the surrounding area better.
