Lake Austin Spa Resort - All Inclusive

I’m sorry to say after having been to Lake Austin many years ago, I was sorely disappointed! There was nothing redeeming about it. It has so much potential under the right management but totally missing it. While in the only ladies restroom in the main building staff member had her makeup spread out on counter and was brushing her teeth! Also large sign at main pool said no pets allowed in pool and if you’ve had diarrhea in the past few weeks stay out of pool. That’s very inviting! I don’t know how they can charge what they are charging and have any repeat guests. You can only go on your past reputation so long! I won’t be back!

I have made 6 phones calls/voicemails/messages to the general manager about a refund. None of my phone calls have ever been returned. I did speak to the general manager one time and she said that she would give me a partial refund. The partial refund has never been applied. Not sure why she still has a job there if she can't call me back and lied to me about the refund. I was told she was the escalation point. The rooms are old and outdated. The rooms smell like mold and mildew. They put a diffuser in the room to cover the musty smell. The fragrance from the diffuser is overwhelming and caused a headache even after the diffuser was removed. Even though I booked a king room, all they could offer me was room 18 which had 2 queens. The room had a sloped floor due to foundation issues. The TV did not work. The lamp did not work. The shower door did not go all the way to the floor and I stepped out into 3 inches of water on the floor due to the inferior shower door. The garden library smells like mold and mildew. The food was fine - not organic, some processed and ultra processed food is available. The chef was extremely pleasant and took great care of me. The staff seems to work hard and is very professional. Unfortunately, the staff has no authority to resolve complicated issues or financial issues - so nothing gets done. When I was onsite, I was told the general manager was unavailable and it could be hours or days to hear back from her. Again, 6 calls to the general manager over 2 weeks and nothing has been done. No email, no phone calls, no refund, nothing. The general manager ruins all the hard work her employees put in. This is not a wellness hotel. This is a toxic environment with a mix of chemicals and mildew/mold in the rooms. There are many other better options in Austin to spend your money at.

Heaven on earth. It’s one of many superlatives to describe our incredible four-night girls’ trip. It was an ideal spot to relax, reconnect, and indulge in luxury. The spa is world-class, and the treatments are incredible. We booked facials, massages, floating meditation sessions and intensive foot repair – we were so pampered that, while reluctant to leave, we left feeling relaxed, refreshed and recharged. The energizing fitness classes, yoga sessions and morning hikes were first-rate and allowed us to indulge in the fabulous organic, farm-to-table meals and the scrumptious desserts. The staff is exceptional and I wish I could remember everyone’s name but would like to give a shout-out to Michelle, Logan, Dave, Shana, Nette, Kathy, Bianca, Dennis, Cale and Renee as well as to everyone we interacted with while we were there. Next time I’ll be sure to write everyone’s name down, so I don’t forget. We are already planning a return visit – can’t wait. Thank you.

To the Executive Team at Lake Austin Resort and Spa, When I arrived in my room I was hit by a strong fragrance coming from a diffuser. As someone who is sensitive to fragrance I immediately removed the diffuser. But as I continued to stay in the room the fragrance gave me an immediate headache and moving towards I migraine. I went to the front desk and asked for a new room. I was told all the rooms have diffusers in them. I asked for a refund since I was unable to stay in my room and was denied. Eventually I was given a room without a diffuser and with a strong musty smell. Obviously, the diffusers are used to cover up the musty smell. Lake Austin Resort and Spa sells themselves as a wellness hotel but the truth is they are concerned about profits and not concerned about my wellness. The fragrance is chemical based causing hormone disruption and endocrine disruption in all of the rooms. Wellness it not top of mind at this place. The rooms are old, out of date, and need an upgrade to match the price they are charging. Since the use of diffusers are standard in each room, I will not be returning. This ruined my weekend.

Disappointed – Not the Experience We Expected for the Price We stayed here hoping to relive the great experience we had back in February but this visit fell far short of expectations. For the price point (nearly $1,900 for our stay), we anticipated quality service and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, we encountered the opposite. It seems like management isn’t fully in control, several temp workers were on staff, and many of them appeared disengaged and uninterested in providing good service. What stood out the most was a disappointing interaction during dinner. We asked to make a few simple modifications to our meal, and a staff member named Stephane (possibly a manager) responded with unnecessary rudeness. It left a bad taste and made us feel more like a burden than a guest. To make matters worse, the salad bar was in poor condition, unappetizing and unkempt. Overall, the food was nowhere near the standard we experienced during our last visit, and certainly not what you’d expect from a high-end property. There are many other hotels and resorts in Austin with better food, friendlier service, and far better value. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this location based on our latest experience.

Reflexology service - it was absolutely amazing. I cannot thank Ashley enough for providing such a wonderful experience. I am counting down the minutes until my return visit. Thank you again for everything, and cheers until next time!!!!
