Hôtel de La Croix d'Or

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyway. It has the highest of standards. Comfortable well decorated and furnished rooms, excellent restaurant and the staff are amazing. It has a lovely old world atmosphere and the staff are very professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is beautiful and so well presented. We come here every time we visit France and it never disappoints.

We stayed at this hotel about 12 years ago, and as we were passing through Avranches again, we decided to give it another go. Strangely enough, we were allocated the same room, No 9, which is lovely, by the way. The hotel has improved somewhat, not that there was anything wrong the last time. It has just had a bit of a face-lift. It was immaculately clean, and the staff are professional yet friendly and are always on hand to help. The hotel is only a two minute walk into town. We dined in the hotel restaurant which I would recommend. The staff were again fantastic, and our waiter Sylvain was a credit to the hotel. He was very knowledgeable and hugely pleasant. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, which also has ample free parking on site. Well done, and thank you all.

Very pleasant stay in this hotel. Warm, welcoming, attentive and professional staff. The room was spacious and clean. Lovely surroundings with well tended garden/yard. The restaurant is to be highly recommended. The cuisine is of a very high excellence with a good choice of menus and wine list. The dishes were all delicious and not too abundant so that one can savour each course.

Very small unappealing room, dark and uncomfortable. Tiny old fashioned bathroom. Nowhere to sit in the room except one office chair. Small window so little light. Close to town centre. Quiet location no traffic or other noise. Didn’t use restaurant.

good place to stay on way to Brittany. Good for parking. Lovely garden. Good food. Good service from efficient staff in restaurant.

We have stayed in this lovely, family-run hotel many times. There is a real sense of tradition and the owner intends it to stay that way. A couple of minutes walk from the town centre the extensive menu and friendly service always make you feel at home here. The food seems to improve with every visit and is now getting quite sophisticated, whilst keeping within french tradition. Excellent buffet breakfast for lunch. Very handy for the Cherbourg ferry.

Beautiful , historic building with relaxing gardens which were essential on an unseasonably hot day. Dog friendly restaurant snd beautiful breakfast . Central location but in a peaceful street. Comfotrtable spacious room

A lovely 17C hotel, with excellent amenities, very good food, and really helpful, friendly staff. We were very pleased to have a room opening onto the beautiful courtyard garden, as it is such a lovely feature. We only had two days there, for an end of holiday treat, but we were delighted that we did, and hope that we can return for a little longer in the not too distant future.

The hotel has a good location in Avranches, it has a closed parking, the place is very nice, the food was excellent, the service quality could be improved, unfortunately the Wifi was not working in the rooms.
