Nyikani Camp - Tarangire

Wonderful service from the staff made this camp special. They were all friendly and very helpful. We had beautiful sunrises from our tent, and the common areas and tents were nicely furnished. It was my first time using a bucket shower, but we got used to it. The beds were comfy. The meals were good, but not great. We also had some problems with honey bees hovering about during the breakfast buffet. Overall, it was a good stay.

This was our first accommodation on our honeymoon trip to Tanzania. The location is quite far from the entrance (about a 2.5-hour drive), but we thoroughly enjoyed the ride to the camp. We were fortunate to see many elephants, giraffes, and other wildlife along the way. Upon arriving at the camp, the staff Elieta/Kelvin/Eric were very welcoming and professional. After checking in, we had a hot water shower. The hot water is manually replenished by the staff, and they waited outside to ensure we had enough hot water to wash off the dirt and exhaustion from the journey. The taste of the dinner was definitely beyond our expectations. Before we came to Africa (we're from Singapore), we had some doubts about the food since it was our first time here. However, the food at the camp was amazing. We enjoyed every meal, including the hamper provided for the next two days. We also had a great night's sleep over the two days. Although we did hear animals howling in the middle of the night, we felt safe. Once it got dark, someone would escort us every time we left or returned to the tent to ensure our safety. Last but not least, we had a bonfire set up on the second night, which was the highlight of our camp experience. Two staff members, Kalvin and Eric, safely guarded me and my husband while we enjoyed the bonfire (a big thank you to them!). Overall, we had a wonderful time here and look forward to returning soon. (One small reminder: the tse-tse flies and mosquitoes can be quite annoying since the camp is in the wilderness. Make sure to bring repellant and wear long sleeves and pants throughout your stay.)

The team at Nyikani are so welcoming and accommodating. Serafine and His crew members helped us with cold juices on arrival, bringing water for us to shower and coffee to the tent in the morning and escorting us to the room at night in the dark and making sure the tent was mozzie free before sleeping. The tent bedroom was so impressive, with a beautifully comfortable super king bed and cotton white sheets. The sleep was a dream. Everything we needed was catered to and we felt safe in the Tarangire National Park. An amazing honeymoon experience.

We did an all inclusive stay which I highly recommend. Chaz did a fantastic job walking us through expectations and guidelines to keep us safe in the camp. I traveled with my 2 teenage sons and the camp was lovely, simplicity and elegance combined. The staff were so friendly, the food was delicious and the tents were very clean. I loved the encouragement to let go and be present in the Serengeti; the wifi was only available in the main tent. This was perfect as my older son stayed in the main area on his phone but since he needed to be escorted back to the tent it put a natural boundary on his phone time. We saw so much in the Tarangire, elephants, zebras, giraffes, countless beautiful birds, hyena, and the leopard was spotted multiple times right outside the camp! Such a treat falling asleep to the sounds of the animals communicating - lions, leopards, zebra, hyena. Chaz manages an efficient, well run camp and kitchen while Eric and Humphrey made us feel at home and well cared for. We did a night tour with James, Walter, and Ruben seeing genets, owls, elephants, foxes, even a serval - we hung out and watched it hunt then cross the road right in front of the vehicle. We loved the whole experience!

Wonderful tent camp in a remote area. The bed was huge and we had a view through the netting of the lovely valley laid out below us. Bucket showers were no problem at all and actually really fun! Dinner and breakfast in the spacious dining tent were excellent. All staff were friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend this camp!

This was the first camp that I stayed at during my trip and I think it might be my favorite! This is definitely a traditional camp and is what I prefer. You have a canvas tent. It is not too cold at night because they can fold down all the flaps. There were also no insects. The bed was very comfortable! Bathroom has a flush toilet and sink has water all the time. The shower is a bucket shower. You have to tell them when to shower and you get 10L of water. They wait for you to finish and can add more water if you need to. The only downside is that they won't do the shower after dinner (my preference). The rooms had bottled water and they also had filtered water in water bottles. Wifi worked only in the main tent, but I was able to get cell reception (Airtel) in my tent. It was good enough to check email and I saw some people using Facetime/video chat. I was easily able to upload pics/videos to social media (unlike other camps with poorer wifi). There is a power strip to charge devices in the tent. Staff was great! Super friendly, but not overwhelming. The food was delicious. There was always a soup, started, main, and dessert. Breakfast was also good with buffet choices and made to order eggs. Glass of wine was $8 (a bit pricier than other camps). The lunch boxes were good (best of my trip). Overall, I would absolutely recommend this camp!
