Sungarden Golf & Spa Resort

DO NOT COME HERE! I will start by saying the spa was really good, that is one of the only nice things I can say about this place. My first night, I decided to go downstairs & have dinner. Despite there being 0 people in the restaurant & 200 lei for a steak, I didn't have a choice because Bolt doesn't deliver here & the closest restaurant is 20 mins away. I ordered the ribeye, it was almost inedible. I asked for medium-rare, it was bleeding. They put a literal slice of CHEDDAR cheese on my "crispy PARMESAN potatoes" (which were almost green) & when I asked them to fix it (very nicely because the waitress was sweet) they cooked it again. This time is was burnt on the outside & still raw on the inside. I didn't even try to eat it at this point because I saw the "chef" & he looked as if he was just hired off the street with no training. They gave me 20% off which is appreciated. After that, we decided to go to the spa. The spa was lovely. Unfortunately it gets worse though. The bartender was being really passive aggressive because I couldn't speak Romanian. Also they don't have vodka at the bar, when I asked about it she told me "um no" as if that was a weird question to ask at a literal bar. I had a mojito. It was fine. Overall, this place is extremely overpriced & there was barely anyone here because they seem like they are going out of business pretty soon. You're better off going to Vibre Hotel, similar price & 10x better. Trust me.

I will start with the only positive experience and that was the spa. The presentation, the pool and sauna was nice. We stay for one night and I am glad it was only for 1 night.. The room smelled awful, it smelled like damp, which did not go away. The TV had no Netflix and would not pair with phone. The breakfast was cold and dry, it taste like the food was from the day before. The paid massage was horrendous. The lady did not put no effort, it seem like she did not want to be there. I could go on but it's clear that I would never return to this spa and I would not recommend this spa to anyone else. Terrible experience 😢

I came back to repeat a very pleasant experience from 8 months ago. Pros: The massage was also with Andreea, exceptional, the spa area superlative, I appreciated Mr. Turos' therapy. The outdoor pool is beautifully made, too bad it is not heated. Minuses: In the Finnish sauna it smelled of chlorine, there was no essence available. At the reception, the young lady looked disheveled, her blouse unironed. I had to explain repeatedly how to do the invoices. Dirty windows in the reception area and beyond. I found the coffee mugs in the room dirty upon arrival, and there was water on the floor in the bathroom. The bathroom is small and uncomfortable in relation to the size of the room. The whole hotel needs a modernization, it is a shame of the initial concept and investment. There are many outdated aspects, with kitsch accents in the hallways and common areas. The staff is not at the level of a 5-star hotel. Dirty windows in the reception area and beyond. This place is a great therapy for the body, mind and soul. Strongly recommend to spend 6 to 8 hours/day here, because you'll find many surpising and relaxing options. Also, you can enjoy a great meal.

We traveled from the US to Cluj for the Romanian Cup golf tournament. Everything about our experience at Sun Garden was excellent. Our rooms were beautiful and clean, stocked with fluffy towels and robes, and received daily housekeeping. The spa was wonderful - my sister-in-law and I received side-by-side massages and our whole family enjoyed the other amenities together. The indoor pool is a wonderful, warm temperature and we had no trouble finding lounge chairs. The saunas and hot tub were amazing. The whole environment was very unique and old world feeling; it felt like we were in another time. The golf course was awesome - short relative to the courses we're used to in the US but super fun. 9 hole par 66. The food in the hotel restaurant was delicious - my favorite dish was the lentil cream soup which I had at least once per day during our four day stay. Service in all areas excellent, from the attentive and friendly waitstaff to the helpful front desk to the skilled therapists in the spa. We have all great memories from our stay at this beautiful resort and hope to return.

The space and ameneties are good, you can actually enjoy yourself and relax. I was really dissapointed because they were letting in way too many people, some of them didn't have a chair to leave a towel or some belongins. This created great discomfort because these people were forced to use some of the ameneties provided by the spa for all guests. This is on top of them not respecting COVID-19 related regulations (not checking for a green pass and going over the max capacity). I would not recommend this until they fix their capacity issues and they start treating guests with respect.
