Shametu River Lodge

We visited Shametu for 3 nights and were booked into the family rooms no 10 and 11 as two couples with children and there are more than plenty to entertain them. Large gardens, a play ground and plenty of things to do. The breakfast and dinner are of a high standard as well as the general upkeep and maintenance of the lodge. The gamedrive to Buffalo was breathtaking. Large herds of buffalo and elephant are grazing on the floodplains of the Kavango and we just sat and watch the animals. Definitely a must to include in your visit to this area.

We enjoyed the 3 day very much. The cruze on the river was great and the Lodge lies between Mahango and Buffalo Parc is excellent for visiting them.

We stayed at Shametu in a chalet behind the tented rooms on the river the first night we stayed at the lodge. The room was big and the aircon was great! The front of house staff where all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the dinner, lunch and breakfast very much. We were impressed with the wine list and enjoyed a good bottle. My friend and I had a pedicure and a full body massage. Both treatments were great and the spa staff are extremely professional. We had great massages. Very happy. The second night we stayed at Shametu after a trip to Katima. We stayed in a tented room on the river. The view was beautiful and you could hear the Popa Falls. The tent was very big and had an aircon which we needed as it was very hot in the tent in the afternoon. Overall everyone was very friendly and we where happy with the lodge. We will visit again!! Recommend this lodge.

Exceeded my expectations. Staff is lovely, accommodation was luxuriously rustic and comfortable, spacious and entertaining, if you don't mind being unplugged.

I would highly recommend this lodge, the rooms are big and clean. The views were lovely with hippos bobbing up and down. The staff are very helpful and the service was great. It was definitely our favourite accommodation of the whole trip and the food was excellent.

Wow! That is about the best way to start this review. From the moment we arrived on our three-day camping stay, every day was memorable. Louis and Amori are perfect hosts and their attention to detail is amazing. It is clear that running Shametu well is not just a job to them, but a calling. They take excellence to another level, not only meeting our expectations, but exceeding it most of the time. The campsites have power points, are well shaded, grassed and level with excellent private ablutions and kitchen. The campsites are behind the lodge, but you can relax on any of various decks of the lodge right on the river. Shametu is the only lodge from where you can see the Popa falls. They offer various boat cruises at various times of the day with knowledgeable guides. The one we loved the most was the breakfast cruise. We will never forget that two hours! We loved our stay at Shametu so much, that we booked another three days in August!
