Well maintained, Nice clean and spacious rooms. The hotel has planted trees and flowers to atract birds and butterflies. We saw toucans, scarlet macaws, woodpeckers and many other birds from our Big Windows overlooking the jungle. Delicious breakfast served everyday by the kind and helpful restaurant owner Dixon. Alberto arranged for several good guides tours for us. The kids loved the pool and the hammocks.

We decided to stay in Drake Bay last minute and were lucky enough to get accommodation here. Very clean rooms, with all necessary amenities. Staff was very kind and accommodating. Fantastic service overall. We highly recommend this place and would stay here again! Pura Vida!

Clean and comfortable hotel with air-conditioning. Good pool. Well situated for restaurants and dive centres and not too far from the beach. The restaurant is not owned by the hotel - the chef/owner is extremely accommodating, making a good (simple) breakfast in the early hours to accommodate my diving trips. Other reviewers have been irritated that credit cards are not taken - I did not find this a major issue.

Huge 3 bedroom room (1 us king, 2 us queen), spotlessly clean, excellent A/C, very nice breakfast (price not included in room), friendly personnel, 5 minute walk to main town street. We had paid for another hotel (name withheld) but it had no A/C and we failed to fall asleep for a nap due to heat and humidity. So we paid twice to be here, and are very glad we did.

Pros: Very Clean with great working air conditioner. Spacious room with refrigerator and nice big terrace with views of wildlife: Toucans and Monkeys Walkable to restaurants and grocery store. Cons: The restaurant is not affiliated with the hotel and they seem hostile toward one another. Dark on the property at night. Area dogs are very noisy and can be heard at night. Shower plumbing was semi broken and we had no hot water for 1/2 the stay. The pool and pool area is not as big as in photos. NO ICE on premises or most places.

The location is perfect - just off the “main” road in Drake’s Bay. Pool is a god-send when it’s hot. So refreshing to go for a swim when you come back from an excursion! Grounds are beautiful with lots of flowers, trees and birds! Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy. Rooms were clean and updated. Loved the rocking chairs on our porch. On-site restaurant provides a great breakfast with patio dining. Dixon, the owner/chef of the restaurant, is a gem! Several mornings we had breakfast at 4:30 am before the excursion departure. Lunch/dinner plans need to be arranged ahead of time. Easy, safe walking distance to restaurants, bars, beach and grocery store.

Visited the restaurant/bar for a drink and dinner, were staying at a different hotel in town. Walked up the hill to get there, nice view from patio area. Greeted by friendly staff and were offered to use the pool anytime if we wanted. Dinner was really tasty and all cooked fresh. The chef came out to say hi and was really hospitable, thanks alot :) and looking forward to visiting again another year.

They easily gave us another (better) room after our first night with leaking AC (noise + a lot of water on the floor). Clean and good size rooms. Their restaurant is not available to their guests at lunch time because it is reserved for diving group tours. That disappointed us a couple of times… not very convenient. They wouldn’t even sell us drinks more than an hour before the group arrived… Also we asked for information on tours and they didn’t have any pamphlet or written info, which would have been appreciated.

We so enjoyed our 4 nights at Hotel Margarita. It turned out to be the best place to recover when my husband came down with "tourista" (lousy stomach from our previous travels)--the hotel helped us connect with a local doctor at the health clinic across the street. Dixon, the chef, couldn't have been more concerned & attentive--spoke good English. He took good care of us, customizing mild food for my husband & ordering coconuts for making coconut water to rehydrate him. The food & drinks on the menu were delicious! Manuel in the restaurant was also very attentive & helpful & was easy to communicate with. The veranda outside our room was perfect for quiet lounging. Wifi was consistent & the pool was lovely...the birds & jungle sounds were beautiful. I/we could walk from the hotel to the beach for my/our outings to Corcovado & dolphin boat. Gracias, Hotel Margarita!
