Maison Otis

There is no reception. No service, just a room in a soulless space. I stayed for four nights and never once was there someone with fresh towels, sheets, etc. The hallways were dark and dreary. Everything outside the rooms themselves looked neglected. The room itself was nice. Good bed and clean enough. My advice, stay somewhere else as this is not really a hotel but just a bed.

I made a reservation with this hotel in July, and received confirmation at that time. However, I never got to experience it as they did not send me check-in instructions, there was no one at reception when we arrived, and when we called the phone number on the notice on the locked door, all we got was voice mail. Despite my call, efforts of the booking company to reach them on our behalf, and a follow-up email to them, there was never any response.

Awful service. Do not go there ! Beds were not done for all stay. Cleaning is awful (carpets are dirty, shower is dirty, etc.). A client before us reported issues in our room on Google reviews. Upon arrival, same issues had been left unaddressed. One of our room key card was not functioning. We were told we would get a new one. We never had it. In a nutshell, despite this had been a great place in the past, since the new owners took over, it's a disgrace and a place to avoid. So many other nice spots to stay in Baie St-Paul, for your own sake, avoid the Maison Otis.

Beware! This is not a full-service boutique hotel as some of the websites suggest. They no longer have breakfast or any other food options. In fact, there seems to be no one on site to greet you. You simply get a code, pick up your key and stay. The room itself was comfortable, but our booking had stated a breakfast was included, so we were disappointed. The room was clean, but some of the common areas seemed a bit neglected. We left thinking this was once a great hotel but was going downhill.

We recently spent a week at this property and, despite many advantages, left feeling that we were victims of false advertising. Here are the details. The property is advised as a hotel with included breakfast. NONE is available. Worse, there's no staff at all. You check in through a provided door code. All attempts to contact staff by phone or e-mail failed. No response whatsoever. We couldn't even find the check-out time! There are nevertheless many advantages. The location is perfect. Steps away from many restaurants, shops and art galaxies. Our studio had a nice, well-stocked kitchen. The room was large yet rather dark. AC didn't work that well. The room was located next to a restaurant, yet it was quiet. The stairs were very steep. No option to refresh towels or bed linens.

If you opt to stay here, make sure to read the fine print. This is an unmanned hotel. There is no staff on site and they are not accessible by phone either. (That was my experience.) You need an entry code to access the foyer where they will place your room keycards. We were apparently supposed to receive an email with specific instructions including the entry code, but we never received it. Three other couples staying there at the same time had a similar experience. One person was able to get the code by replying to the confirmation email that said not to reply. Our room, once we were able to access it, was actually pretty great. The space was extremely generous and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the location was perfect. By the way, the restaurant Tavola is closed, though there is a Mexican restaurant, Kahlo, that is part of the hotel building.

We booked this January with Maison Otis. No problem taking our money through online booking. We needed to cancel and that is the end of the good experience. No one answers the phone. We left 3 English messages and my learned enough French to be decent at it and left one in French. Nothing, nada. Also sent 3 emails - 2 in English and one 1 in French. After that I got Royal Bank to refund us which they did after 40 days. So at least we got our money back. This place is a joke!

Nice rooms center of everything ,great restaurants and shopping ,fun city on st Lawrence river ,49 km to chateau manoir Richelieu,walk to every thing great views and clean air .not to many people ,actual food was better than menus on line

A nice, quiet hotel well situated for visiting Baie St Paul and the surrounding areas. Our suite was nice-very clean, lots of closet room and recently remodeled. The bed was very comfortable and plush. I really liked the local artist details featured in the decorating. I only gave it 4 stars for a few reasons. The hallways and outside areas, with the exception of a new back patio, need some attention as they were a bit worn and unwelcoming. The breakfast, in a town with lots of bakeries, was really sad. Pretty much a tray of grocery store pastries and a little yogurt. The coffee was not great either. The room's coffee maker was a better option. All in all, it was a really pleasant and convenient stay, just not at the 5 star level.
