The best view in Ubud, the price is not low! super tasty food, very nice staff!!

Very pleasant stay! The food and breakfast was really good, the room is clean and have everything needed. We loved the pool and the view it oversees. The only downside is the bathroom, the lighting is very weak, even in the morning it’s very dark as sunlight doesn’t reach in. It’s connected to the outdoor but that’s common in Bali. Good location and they have shuttles provided to go in to Ubud centre.

This hotel is lovely, the private pool is amazing. The staff is really helpful and the floating breakfast was great. Although they charge an additional 150 000 for the floating tray. It’s more or a couple vibe though so its a good choice if you’re traveling with your partner.

Все было великолепно, отличные номера с прекрасными видами на которые можно любоваться вечно и бассейном, очень хорошие завтраки, блюда в ресторане все вкусные. Сервис не навязчивый. Единственное что немного омрачало - днем бывает временами шумно от людей поднимающихся с рафтинга (за забором лестница от реки) но это не вина отеля.

Staff dihotel ramah dan pelayanan cepat dan bagus. Makanan juga enak. Pemandangan hotel yang bagus. Tapi sayang tidak ada lift sehingga kalau bawa orang tua yg kakinya ga kuat apalagi yang pakai kursi roda tidak disarankan. Akan kembali kesini lain waktu.

The hotel view is amazing, facing the rice field. Stayed here for 3 nights… hotel staffs are helpful and friendly. Breakfast selection is great. I did read some of the bad reviews from trip advisor. I think the management did changed the team. They are super professional now. The toilet is located outside the room so do expect to see ants and insects. As for the room, there are some wear and tear. Overall, still recommend staying in black penny.

The resort has a very great view and enjoyable private pool in the villa. Breakfast is serve by ala carte with vary options made by fresh ingrediants. I have a massage by the pool in the villa which so relaxing melted the natural environment surrounding. They serve the afternoon tea by complimentary also.

This was my lovely stay at Black Penny which has incredible views from the villas. The staff are always very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, and took great care of me. The food in the restaurant is always good quality, and the cooking class was fun. Will definitely stay again.

The Black Penny Villas are an amazing property with amazing customer service. Our villa had an amazing view with a private pool. The Villa itself was very well-maintained and felt quite luxurious. The private pool/lounge area were very comfortable and we had a lot of fun spending time there. The next two villas we stayed at afterwards paled in comparison. The customer service was phenomenal. Two of staff that we interacted with, Desa and Sri, were particularly helpful, genuinely kind and always in good spirits. They helped us with every request and were really passionate about their jobs. They have a great future ahead of them. Thank you both ladies - you made our experience unforgettable. The management team graciously invited us to their ceremonial anniversary event. We felt honored to be involved with the ceremony as well as invited to eat a delicious lunch with them. We look forward to returning to this paradise in jungle.

The staff was all very nice and easy ready to help at any minute. They helped us book our water rafting and helped answer any other questions we had. We were there for our honeymoon, so they really made it a special time with the honeymoon package that included romantic dinner, massages, cooking class and floating breakfast.

Avoid the Black Penny at All Costs We chose the Black Penny for our honeymoon based on positive reviews and selected their honeymoon package, which included dinner, massages, and a floating breakfast. Unfortunately, our experience was disastrous and ruined what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. The Room: The villa is styled in an antique, rustic manner with squeaky floors and patchwork decor. The bathroom is located outside, which means you’ll be battling mosquitoes unless you burn incense. The Pool & View: The pool is the one redeeming feature, offering a serene and forested view with the sounds of nature at night—a genuinely calming experience. The Massage: The massage was terrible, the masseuse has no motivation to give massage. You will not feel anything more than just a rub, even after you ask them to do it a bit stronger, 5 minutes later they got back to same strength. The Food: This is where everything went downhill. On our first night, we opted for the candlelight dinner. My wife ordered the Asian menu, including salad and salmon. Within an hour of eating, she began experiencing severe diarrhea, which lasted for two days and led to hospitalization for dehydration. The food safety standards are questionable at best, especially for a high-priced resort. While the management was very apologetic and covered our hospital expenses, it doesn’t compensate for the trauma we endured. My wife suffered sleepless nights, feeling faint and calling for help, while I was constantly worrying about her well-being. Honeymoon Plans Ruined: We traveled all the way from San Francisco with a carefully planned bucket list, but we had to cancel 80% of our activities due to the illness. The management assured us they would investigate and improve food safety, but the damage was done. While I appreciate the hospital costs being covered, I believe the resort should fully refund our stay which they refused to do. This incident not only caused physical harm but also destroyed our honeymoon—an experience we can never get back. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend staying here. The risks far outweigh the rewards, and I sincerely hope no other couple has to endure what we went through. I wish we can leave half star review based on our experience. Good luck if you still choose the Black Penny.

A truly wonderful and one-of-a-kind experience at Black Penny Ubud. My partner Jarron and I were fortunate enough to stay at the Black Penny Ubud for our first Bali trip together, and wow - it absolutely exceeded our expectations! Firstly, the villas are beautifully located in the idyllic cliffside mountains of Ubud overlooking the gorgeous rice terraces and forest, and it was conveniently situated in the heart of Ubud and all its wonderful sites to offer. Secondly, the staff were exceptional; their customer service was impressive and extremely accomodating. We were greeted with such positive and warm energy, and all staff ensured we had an enjoyable stay. Thirdly, the Black Penny package we selected for our stay was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. We were offered a free photoshoot by their in-house photographer, the most scrumptious daily breakfast (included with our stay), complimentary airport pickup (and drop-off), complimentary Balinese cooking class (this was our highlight - the staff and chef was top notch!), free one-time Balinese 60-min massage, extended happy-hour drinks, as well as other inclusivities that we unfortunately did not claim (free joined trekking activity which we did not do as I have a foot injury). This was such an awesome package and made every second of our stay so enjoyable. We would love to highlight the staff - Chef Wayan and his patience, generosity and talents he shared with us, and hotel staff member Sri, who was so incredibly kind, accommodating and even invited us to pick fresh edible flowers straight from their garden to include in our cooking class! The entire hotel staff was pretty much fantastic too. We would absolutely recommend the Black Penny Ubud villas to anyone that is travelling to Bali, as it is truly one of the most beautiful accommodations we have come across. The service and overall experience was phenomenal and we couldn’t find any fault in anything whatsoever during our stay. Thank you Black Penny Ubud, for making our stay truly unforgettable. We can’t wait to be back in the near future!
