Our stay at Kampung Kecil was one of the best experiences we have had. The accommodation is superb- the grounds and pool are gorgeous and breakfast is a treat. The staff are wonderful and all the small touches are evident - things we have never found at other hotels. Overall highly recommended.

We had a lovely 3-night stay in the one bedroom studio (Villa Klaten). The hotel is exactly like on the pictures. You immediately feel like you're on holiday thanks to the beautiful architecture. We had the swimming pool for ourselves for two days!

When booking for this trip, I tried to stay away from the typical beach-front resort-in-a-bubble that was totally detached from local life. As a foreigner I wanted to stay in an authentic, quaint place close to real Bali life. I got what I wished for. The owner of this establishment had acquired an old wooden mansion in Java, taken it apart and transported everything to Bali, then re-assembled the parts into a boutique hotel. Just look up when you are in the reception area; the intricate original woodwork on the ceiling, like the many Indonesion antiques throughout the hotel, speaks to the passion and care with which this unique property was created. However, I realized soon after setting foot in Bali that it was precisely a beach-front resort-in-a-bubble that I should have booked because, well, authentic life here is just not that pleasant. First there is the pervasive noise from the motor scooters that assaults you, even when you are in your room in this quaint little hotel late at night. And then there is the traffic: The alleyways that make up most of the town of Sanur rarely have sidewalks, so you are almost always jostling with cars and scooters when walking along narrow roads that are unlikely to be pretty. Once you make it to the big main road, there are frequent traffic jams while the noise becomes horrendous. All that wouldn't be a problem if there were good local food or interesting places to explore away from the beaches. Yes there are stalls for local snacks and lots and lots of pizza places, but when we asked about a nice Indonesian restaurant in the neighborhood, the lady at Reception nevertheless recommended a cafe (Batujimbar) near the beaches, realistically a cab ride away in the heat. Likelywise we had to go to the beach promenade to experience the fabled Bali vibe. The Penida island day trip we had booked started and ended on a beach as well. In short, what you want to see, to eat and to experience all seems concentrated in that narrow strip of highly developed beach front, which also happens to be the only place where you can escape the scooter noise. We had always assumed that, being an island, Bali would have great seafood, but when we asked people to recommend a seafood restaurant, we mostly drew puzzled looks. The night before our departure we discovered the Kedonganan fish market on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try, only to find it closed after a 45-min car ride further inland in bad traffic. To salvage our last evening we ended back at the beachfront, in a very nice hotel. Eating fine Indonesian food in a quiet, elegant Bali-style hut looking out to the ocean, my wife spoke what was on my mind: "We should have stayed here."

This place is the nicest place we have stayed at! ✨ The room was clean and sooo beautifully set up, the bathroom was natural and so serene. The room had everything, it was soo well set up. We asked for a cot and it was the most beautiful cot and we felt so relaxed that our baby was safe. We had an early check out and the staff brought us our breakfast at 5.45am and were ready and available to help us with our questions. Would 100% stay again and highly recommend to anyone!

This villa is a true gem for everyone looking for true relaxation and serenity that feels like home. There is beauty in every detail and there are so many little things that make this place special: from imperial style home interiors and unique shaded sunbeds to kind welcoming stuff. This place has a very peaceful vibe and is close to Sanur port (around 15 mins drive) many local restaurants and beautiful beaches with live music. I can’t wait to get back there.

What a fabulous find! In a largely residential area, it's quiet and peaceful. We stayed off-season in February, and there were only a few other people there. The villas are exactly as you see them in the photos - beautifully styled, calming, sublime! Free transport is available to the Sanur tourist hub when you want to dive in, but you'll be so glad to get back. Sila is so helpful to make your stay comfortable, and the staff are all very friendly as they go quietly about their tasks. We're going back to Villa Kampung Kecil, and I can't wait.

The hotel is stunning. With authentic Balinese architecture and a beautiful swimming pool, the grounds, entrance and invididual villas are all super unique and authentic. We stayed in a two bedroom villa which was very spacious and perfect for a family of four. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The villas are super private but still accessible to the pool. We could sit quietly and see our kids swimming from the privacy of our own enormous patio. I would highly recommend this hotel for groups! Such a great experience.

My stay at Kampung Kecil was outstanding. The charming home ambient, elegant room makes my experience unique. Silent place where you can rest at perfect location between Sanur port and Bali Airport . Prime location connected to tool . The staff is so helpful :) thank you again

My family and I stayed at the villa this July. I can say that it was the best rest for the soul. Every corner there is made with soul and love. Wonderful responsive staff who will always help. They even changed my pillow because I couldn't sleep on a high one. A wonderful, peaceful place to relax with children. near the villa there are many markets and restaurants, you will never be hungry there. Lovely laundry across the street. We really liked this place and will definitely come back again. We thank the owner and staff for the hospitality.

We stayed in two bedroom villa in these beautiful villas. Our two sons loves the pool. The decor is amazing, I am Indonesian and loved seeing the traditional Javanese style and uniqueness of this luxury compounds. Its really safe, quiet with lots of shops close by. You have your own fully equipped kitchen which was great with the kids and nice table for having lunch. Everything is centered around a nice cool pool and lovey garden. We loved our stay a can highly recommend this place.

Kampung Kecil is a beautiful and unique private villa complex in a quiet part of Sanur. The villas are rebuilt luxury Javanese Joglos, which add really character and charm. Each one is unique, so you could stay many times and have a different experience each time. There is nowhere like this to stay in Sanur. If you want an authentic, culturally rich, and beautiful luxury villa, then this is the place to stay. The attention to detail is incredible, and you can just spend some time looking at how the villa has been made—an amazing experience in itself if that interests you like me. Top this, if with them being secure, quiet, and around a lovely pool (which my kids loved), just make them one of the best places to stay in Bali. Helpful staff and a great breakfast as well. The areas where the villas are located is at the back of Sanur, so not walking distance to the beach, but a quick booking of a cheap Grabcab or bike and you can be there in 10 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants close by and many great options for delivery. Also all the villas are self-catering with fully equipped kitchens, and there is a supermarket 2 minutes away, so perfect.

We stayed few nights in March 2024 at Villa Kampung Kecil in Sanur and it was an unforgettable, amazing experience. The villa we stayed in was a beautiful antique Javanese teak house, meticulously decorated with stunning antiques. It featured a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious veranda, and an en-suite bathroom that seamlessly blended modern comforts with traditional charm. We particularly love the bathtub made from the stone. The tropical garden and the natural swimming pool at the center of the property created a tranquil and serene environment. It felt like a hidden oasis, perfect for relaxation. The staff at Villa Kampung Kecil were incredibly friendly and attentive. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and refreshing welcoming drinks. Overall, Villa Kampung Kecil offers an authentic Balinese experience with modern comforts, exceptional service, and a serene environment. I highly recommend it to families, couples, and solo travelers looking for a peaceful and unique stay in Sanur.
