Banbury (M40, J11)

Wonderful staff, very attentive and proactive. Our parents stayed there as well and we all had a great night sleep. We specially liked the taxi booking system they had in which you push a button in reception and they tell you the taxi number and at what time is is going to arrive. They could include the opening hours in their menu as we didn’t know at what time they closed. There is no phone in your room so you have to go downstairs to order the food for it to be delivered to your room (and presumably pay there as well) The kiosk check-in wasn’t working so we had to wait for a person to arrive. The drop your card system for checkouts is great!

The stay overall was good. He had a very lovely and quiet room overlooking the Oxford canal in Banbury. The hotel is perfectly well located right next Castle Quay (main shopping centre in Banbury City Centre) There is an arcade right in front of the hotel with cinemas, restaurants, bowling, gaming meters away from the hotel. I would say the location is just great. As for the staff. They were NOT great. I believe they lack of proper training to receive, register and welcome guests.

perfect stay for a drunken night

Loved the location of this hotel. The parking was free which was great and the hotel is new and the rooms were really good. Feedback, the reception staff were not very friendly and there was no availability at the restaurant even though it was mostly empty, would have been worth telling you this before arrival so you could book. We had to go out

Stayed 2 nights as a couple - 12th/13th October. Have stayed here, before, earlier this year, and still, only one lift working. Which, every now and again, the management have to reset the computer controls, as it stops working. About time this was sorted. Room 226 ………….. Bed/linen/bathroom very clean, but showing signs of wear. Desk unit has the plastic veneer lifting off. Net curtain filthy with holes in it, card light slot and heating control, very worn with constant use. In general, needs TLC. Bar area very worn, with torn seats on the leather settees. Really needs furniture replacing. Thyme restaurant, a short Beefeater/Brewers Fayre type menu. In general, it has same food, as other Whitbread restaurants. Well cooked and prepared, but, not good to see food being plated up, in full view. We all know what goes on behind the scenes in restaurants, but I don’t need to see my curry, being poured from a plastic bag, that the cook (can’t call him a chef), has just cut open, with a pair of scissors. Or the soup, being microwaved in a plastic box. We had to ask the staff to put on some heating, practically, everyone dining, had an outside coat on, to keep warm. Not good. In general, no complaints about staff, all were friendly. But, prices starting to be not value for money.

Another very good PI stay. We are onto our 4th Premier Inn on this trip and Banbury ticked all the boxes. Didn’t see or need to see much of staff except for checking in. Room was as to be expected - although I had a peak at the room opposite and it looked significant larger than our Premier Plus room. Shower in bathroom which is just how we like it. Good location. Short drive into Banbury centre and very close to a big Primark & M&S retail outlet.

We booked this hotel last minute because it was the closest to our venue, and since it's a Premier Inn, I expected the usual standard of cleanliness and comfort. Unfortunately, this stay was far from what we’ve experienced at other locations. The Wi-Fi was terrible. It barely worked unless we opted to pay extra for the faster option, which is frustrating when basic Wi-Fi should be included. The hotel restaurant was incredibly loud, though to be fair, this was mostly due to other guests being rowdy, which is why we opted to eat elsewhere. The room was where things really fell short. The bathroom was severely outdated—limescale all over the showerhead, grime and dust around the skirting boards, and a tired, dingy shower curtain. Worse, the shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold, with no middle ground, making it very difficult to use. The bed sheets were another letdown, with what looked like makeup stains on them, which left me questioning the overall cleanliness of the room. The TV was wonky on the wall, and the bedside tables didn’t match the rest of the furniture, giving the room a mismatched, poorly maintained feel. Due to the nature of our stay, we were on a tight schedule and already stressed, so I didn’t complain at the time. Normally, Premier Inn is a safe bet, but this one fell far below expectations.

We stayed here a few nights as we had Band of Builders charity working in our house making an adpated bathroom, we needed somewhere with a disabled access room for a few nights so chose this Premier Inn as not far away. We had such a warm welcome from Kate as soon as we arrived. Room was perfect with the adapted wet room for my husband. We ate in the restaurant twice and it was brilliant, good pub food and great service. We even went back for another night as felt so welcome and relaxed there.
