Holcombe Guest House

My husband and had a wonderful stay in the family room. The staff were very attentive and cheery and did all they could to make us feel comfortable. The breakfasts were perfect, we had the full vegetarian and everything was thought out and beautifully presented, we couldn’t have wished for more. A great additional facility is the provision of a fridge, microwave & small oven (though you’d need your own oven gloves!) in the communal lounge to heat up meals if we wanted to eat in our room. This was particularly appreciated as there wasn’t much choice in the area for eating out in the evening, although we could have eaten in the dining room for part of the week if we’d let the kitchen staff know beforehand. On first sight of Holcombe, it maybe doesn’t really stand out, it’s unassuming and in a residential area, but then you go through the front door and find a real hidden gem! We wouldn’t hesitate to book up again if visiting that part of Lincolnshire.

Stayed here in room 2 for 2 nights. I arrived about 4pm and was checked in. The guest house offers breakfast for an extra charge and I asked for the vegetarian option. The room was located on the first floor via stairs. Not really accessible for those with mobility problems, although there were definitely rooms on the ground floor too. The room was good sized with a single bed, wardrobe, a cabinet, a hairdryer, a washing sink and an armchair. Bath and hand towels were also provided. I had stayed the previous summer in another room and a small fan was provided. This room didn’t have that. One of the nights was hot enough that I slept without covers, so a fan would definitely have been welcome, but not a showstopper. There was no desk to work on, which made working on my laptop a bit difficult. Location-wise, the hotel is close to the Lincolnshire Wolds and about 30 minutes to the Humberside, by car. There’s not much in Barnetby-le-Wold, although there is a small supermarket nearby and a Co-op about 15 minutes walk. Overall, I had an excellent stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights in room 1 I was scheduled to arrive early evening, so the hotel sent me check-in instructions which were perfect. Parking here is pretty straightforward as the hotel has 4 or 5 parking spots in front of the building. My room was on the second floor, although there are also rooms on the first floor where there’s also a kitchen and dining room. The entire hotel is very clean and tidy as was my room. As with most guest houses, the room was equipped with a kettle, tea, coffee, tv, hairdryer and even a small fan, which was very welcome. The room also had an armchair and wardrobe, giving the room a more homely feel. My room didn’t have an ensuite, but the shared and separate toilet and showers were clean. The guest house offers all you can eat breakfast or cooked breakfast options. The former is cereals, toast and coffee/tea. They do a vegan full English breakfast for the latter, there’s probably also a version for the meat eaters, although I didn’t check. The Vegan Full English Breakfast was really nice, it even had vegan bacon, which I’d never had before. Think I’ll try that at home. Overall, I had a fantastic stay at Holcombe and would stay again the next time visiting Lincolnshire.

Fantastic guest house, highly recommend. Spotless and friendly. Quiet location, easy access to the main road. Staff are amazing and very helpfully. Kitchen access also meals served on request, even a packed lunch. I'm in a single en suite and it's perfect

Lovely weekend away. The rooms are nice and clean. The shower was nice and powerful. Anne was lovely and i really enjoyed listening to her anecdotes about her horse Macky. The breakfast was lovely and i look forward to returning again soon..
