Hôtel des Isles

A lot to like about this sea front hotel but sadly several negative points . Hotel was very clean and staff were friendly and helpful . We were somewhere near the storage room for bed linen etc and the very loud door wqs banging every morning from about 8.00 am . So no peaceful holiday lye in I'm afraid ! . Evening menu a bit disappointing . We tried to obtain a light lunch but the haricot salad was dreadful so used the nearby beach cafe for the remainder of our stay.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting on the beach front steps in front to go straight to the beach lovely for someone lazy as me even managed it in heels, the deco of the house is class in gold and dark blue, the restaurant in the hotel is smart and the food is high end, the staff amazing and helping and very talkative, helping and accommodating, they could only propose a room change as we booked short notice but we didn't have to do a thing everything was taken care of, downfall the pool isn't in use yet as they have just taken over and no balconies on the actual sea front, but well worth the money

We had a good recommendation for the restaurant so decided to take our friends there. The service was good, however the food was not. The first course was clams on piles of salt, not much taste to them and they were chewy. The main course was not very pleasant, seemed to be overcooked, also not much in way of vegetables. One of us had the fish dish which was good. Desserts were nothing special. Because of the recommendation we were very much looking forward to the meal and were embarrassed for our guests that the food was not good. Their opinion of Normandy food must be rock bottom.

This very recently opened small hotel is a real gem. Whilst the staff are still learning their trade, their enthusiasm is boundless and very charming! The romantic setting is right on the seafront so it’s well worth going for a room with a sea view if you can . There’s public parking opposite the hotel itself. The hotel itself is delightfully decorated with a marine theme and the rooms have been simply but very effectively updated. They even have coffee making facilities with locally made biscuits which is very rare in France. My wife particularly liked the fact that we could leave the bedroom window open and hear the lapping of the waves as we fell asleep. However for those with walking difficulties, the stairs to the bedrooms may be a challenge! The hotel is very competitively priced and the restaurant Le Comptoir des Isles (operated by a different company) offers a fixed price menu only (at 30 Euros for three courses). The food was beautifully prepared and quite delicious. We were even offered a free glass of wine in the bar beforehand! It’s clearly extremely popular as it was packed but currently is apparently only open at weekends. The very attractive town is about 45 minutes from Cherbourg so well placed for catching a midday ferry to Portsmouth. We will certainly want to return to the hotel and spend more time exploring the area.

Nous avions réserver une chambre et le dîner pour le 4 juillet au soir, mais le matin j’apprends le décès de mon frère, je suis obligée de repartir, j’habite Grenoble, je téléphone à l’hôtel pour annuler ma réservation, et là on me réponds que je ne peux annuler la chambre, puisque réservation faites par Booking, Pas très humain ces responsables d’hôtel, Faites bien attention, lors de vos réservations, car aucun changement n’est accepté, même pour des cas extrêmes, Je ne recommande pas, et je ne ferai pas de publicité pour ce genre d’établissement.

Hôtel sur le front de mer, refait récemment, offrant calme et belle une vue sur mer ! Le personnel est accueillant, très à l’écoute et cherchant visiblement à « faire plaisir à ses hôtes ». Plein de petites attentions comme un mot d’accueil personnalisé, des bouteilles d’eau ou des biscuits offerts dans la chambre (par très spacieuse toutefois). Le restaurant est excellent : repas léger mais gourmand : je garde un souvenir ému du désert, un fontainebleau rhubarbe/citron vert.
