Karoo Art Hotel

Call in this place a few years ago. At this time, it was struggling and looking very tired. However, it has had a very sympathetic makeover, it's retained the old charm of bygon days with furnishings and decor to match. We got our drinks in the bar then headed to the very pleasant garden to enjoy our drinks. Meals are not available through the week, only weekends. There is the option of cakes, scones and pastries tea and coffee.

As a city dweller and designer, I have kept returning to Karoo Art Hotel every year over 10yrs as a home away from home. She is old fashioned and has a lot of old world charm where the staff have become like familiar friends. It’s a place where I can wind down from the demons of pristinity so prevalent in today’s expectations of modern man to feel more at ease and relaxed amongst other guests looking for the same thing…almost like an early traveller from my grandfathers time. Each room/suite has its own theme woven into decor and linen and each day housekeeping will leave you arriving to a freshly made up bed and clean bathroom after breakfast. The swimming pool area nestled into a lush planted surrounding is perfect on hot summer days when you just want to relax with a crossword puzzle and a g&t in the afternoon without anywhere to go. The quiet low lit streets are incredible at night and after one of Derek’s incredible dinners, I’ll always take a walk to meet the friendly companion Zorro along the way while crickets chirp to break the deafening silent surroundings. Everytime I leave I know it will only be for a brief moment…thank you for doing what you do KAH!

The Karoo Art Hotel was a great treat. The staff's hospitality and friendly service make you feel special. The hotel's decor is picture-perfect and the meals excellent. Delicious meals were also served.We would love to stay at the Karoo Art Hotel again.

We stayed here about 10 years ago when there were some very interesting pieces of art around! Now it’s had a revamp with still wonderful art around but it has a much more elegant feel . We love the new look ….the whole place has such charm. We had a lovely room with a large balcony overlooking the street and the countryside beyond. Perfect for people watching ! Yet very quiet at night. It was so nice to sit on the veranda with a glass of wine before dinner in the evenings. The food in the restaurant was excellent…the chef comes out to greet you which is very nice. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We shall definitely return.

Guys, if you think you have seen the best hotels out there, think again...Authentic as can come, service is of the best quality, Staff is on the ball. Then go and experience the town itself, you will be blown away. Thank you to the team at Karoo Art Hotel for making my client and myself feel at home. Derek, the chef at Karoo Arts, catered to our every need. We were a party of 9 and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We felt so welcome. Glen, in the bar made sure we were never thirsty! Every member of staff remember our names and rooms making the entire weekend a wonderful experience.
