Wessex House

Spent two nights at Wessex House. Absolutely everything you could possibly need. comfy bed, fridge, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, plates and cutlery, glasses, flat screen tv, free wifi (that works), and a useable ensuite shower/bathroom with towels provided. Met the owners who were lovely, friendly, and a great laugh. Will definitely stay again.

Had a 3 bedded room quite small and compact but it was OK for 1 night pre cruise stay. 10 minute walk into town. Brilliant Indian almost next door had meal there very busy but really good. Facilities in the room allowed us to have some breakfast eg toaster,fridge microwave , milk and butter provided .Crockery and cutlery in cupboard .Various snacks left for us too(crisps biscuits,flapjacks) Excellent provisions and much appreciated. Just one thing missing there wasn't a mirror in the room for anyone who may want to do their hair etc although there was one over the sink in the bathroom but obviously no electric supply just a minor point. Over all the property was very clean with crisp bedlinen .However very flat and flimsy pillows . We would stay there again for sure as it was good value compared to other places in the area and it was only a 45mins drive to the cruise port Thankyou Paul .

I stayed here for four nights on a business trip. The guest house is set in a brilliant location, close to all amenities with a a local shop, pub and curry house just a stones throw away and the town centre only 5 mins walk away. The rooms are clean and have all the homely touches you'd expect. The bed was very comfortable and the room has everything and more then you could need to have a comfortable stay - completely self contained with a microwave, fridge and Toaster. The personal touches of fresh milk and butter in the rooms, and a complimentary tray full of of continental food was a lovely touch. The manager and owner where both lovely and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this place and will certainly be booking next time I'm in the area.

What a great place for a stay in Basingstoke. It is clean, it has everything you need in a spacious self contained unit. The bed was comfy, the snacks/cereal were much appreciated, it was quiet and very well maintained. It is in a great location close to town with its shops and restaurants. There is plenty of off road parking and check in is simple. We met Paul the manager when we arrived (by chance) and he could not do enough for us. We use this when we come to the Anvil theatre and will continue to do so. It is also great value for money. As an aside I left my house keys at the gaff, advised Paul and he gave me numerous options to get them back to me, I now have them.....thanks Paul
