Dukes Bath

We had a warm welcome, and we're shown to our room (Superior King, about £200 a night - bear this in mind when I get picky!), up 6 flights of stairs. We knew about the stairs, so no issue, it is stated on the website, and the staff did offer to carry our luggage. We weren't immediately enamoured with the room, but it was cosy (quite cold, but warmed up), beds were slightly oddly positioned (two pushed together to create a king), but overall OK. Very quickly noticed the state of the curtains - they looked like a small child had taken a pair of blunt scissors to them. Unfortunately there were also stains on the headboard, paint on the sheets and mould in the bathroom (all pictured). Very old looking TV to match, but functional and all worked OK. To add insult to the state of the room, breakfast was frankly quite sad. £15 (no, breakfast is NOT complimentary), my husband had a glass of juice, 1 (TINY) egg, 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon and a tomato (all pictured). For a room at the prices charged, I expect it to be mould free, and have curtains in one piece. Thankfully the bed was comfortable so we were well rested and enjoyed the rest of Bath. Would absolutely not, however, recommend to a friend. Actually quite disgusted at the state of it vs the charge. Note: £20 per night, per vehicle at sister hotel...use the Park and Ride

I don’t know where to start with this review! There are so many thank yous to the entire team at Dukes! Booked for a surprise Birthday for my partner and it could not have been better! The staff gave some of the best service I have ever had! They made it feel like coming home rather than staying in a hotel. The room was beautiful, spotless and well worth it. A timeless classic building and they make you feel like nothing is too much! Thank you to everyone for making this not only possible but a wonderful and memorable Birthday.

Absolutely lovely hotel , joint with the bird hotel where we had fantastic food and cocktails. Dukes is very quaint and the staff especially Vincent at front of house and Eiliah at breakfast couldn’t do enough or be more helpful. We will definitely be back , the wellington room is lovely. We loved this hotel, from the furnishings to the staff, who were genuinely kind and very helpful. My husband used a mobility scooter and each day someone was on hand to help me put it together and transport it in and out of the hotel. The beds were comfortable, plush and not hard, with good pillows. We took our Cockapoo. She was made to feel very welcome with a plush dog bed and welcome pack, which included a ball! The breakfasts were outstanding. I am gluten free and love pancakes, but they weren't on the menu, so they bought the ingredients and made them especially. They were amazing. We are looking forward to returning in the new year.

My wife and I stayed here for 14 days- amazing! beautiful room, clean, great food, great location, quiet and perfect for us. What really makes the Dukes a special place is the AMAZING, FRIENDLY people that work there! Jean- Luc was wonderful, Manager and an fantastic cook! Try his delicious pancakes in the morning and you will probably be greeted by one of the nicest people I've ever met, ELI GOLD! Long story short, Jean-Luc, Eli and the rest of the crew are the reason that when we come back to Bath, The Dukes is the only place we'll stay! Thanks again to the entire staff for making us feel that we were not just guests , we were friends. The people of Bath are what makes this city #1 for us, til next time. David and Melane Lee

Loved this hotel! Great location, amazing breakfast and a clean comfortable room. A special mention for Jenny who welcomed us on our arrival and even helped carry our luggage up 6 flights of stairs to our suite, nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay!
