Great place with an owner that will never leave your beer glass empty… loved every moment and a short walk to bat cave. Go for a relaxing walk in rice paddies. Great homemade food.

Great homestay if you want to experience the life of local Khmer people. Located near the bat cave and surrounded with rice fields, perfect way to disconnect from busy city life and indulge in local culture. The dinner and breakfast are delicious. Saro speaks English very well, he can introduce you to local culture and touristic spots. Don’t expect a five star hotel but rather an assembly of humble huts. Saro and his family provide everything needed to make sure we spend a comfortable stay. Beautiful sunset and sunrise over the rice fields.

El lugar tiene mucho encanto y autenticidad. Si no necesitas lujos y quieres estar cerca de Phnom Sampow para ver el templo, la Killing Cave y la salida de los murciélagos este es tu sitio.
La familia nos atendió muy bien, la comunicación en inglés es fluida. Nos llevaron a ver la Bat Cave y también nos acercaron por la mañana siguiente a la parte de arriba del templo. Además te pueden ayudar pidiendo el tuc tuc.
El desyuno y la cena muy buenos.

We had the loveliest stay with Saro and his family. We were made to feel so welcome and it felt like we were part of the family. The room is basic but very comfortable. The food Saro’s wife cooked was all delicious, my partner said the beef lok lak was the best thing he’s eaten in our over 8 months of travelling through Asia! Saro took us to see the bats and for tours of the beautiful countryside, it felt like we were getting to see the “real” Cambodia. The two dogs were lovely and friendly and there are cats and chickens running around too. The surrounding scenery is stunning and we will definitely stay again if we’re ever back in Battambang.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Yes, it is ‘basic’ but that’s the absolute beauty of it. Back to nature, away from the crazy business of the main areas. Esaro was very responsive to messages; organised a tuktuk to pick me up from the bus station, with the driver having a sign up with my name clearly written for ease. A really decently priced bike tour with him of the batcaves, killing caves, temple and hilarious monkey forest. Plus a simple but tasty dinner and breakfast, with beers thrown in for dinner. Had been a full on trip going around Vietnam and Cambodia so I was so grateful to have this peaceful haven to relax in. I haven’t stopped telling people about it!!! The pics say it all really.

Battambang is one of the most memorable places of our trip to Cambodia, and the most defining experience was the few days we spent at the Family Bat Cave Homestay. The hosts were amazingly attentive and helpful. The hostess's cooking, the host's stories, the informative and exciting guided tour, the laughter and smiling of their children, the insight into the busy everyday life of the elder family members.... I will never forget it and thank you for being a part of it. I hope we can meet again one day. I wish the family all the best. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone who wants to get a slice of rural Cambodian life and Khmer hospitality.

Beautiful, peaceful family homestay. I wish we'd stayed here for all 3 nights as there is more to see in this area than in Battambang town. Loved the hammocks for dozing while listening to the birds. Saro and his extended family all live here (it's a genuine Homestay not purpose built for tourists). Everyone is very kind and welcoming and the meals they made us were delicious. We were cycling and were late arriving due to having to change a tyre but Sairo had kindly waited at the side of the road to guide us. The Homestay is a short walk to the Batcave and is in a typical small village. Saairo booked the boat to siem reap for us and also made sure they would pick up our bikes and that it was the best dock (careful! There are 2 dropoff docks in siem reap for the boat).

We stayed at Saro's for 2 nights but wished we could have stayed for way longer. Saro and his family offer a proper authentic experience to see how beautiful Cambodia is and what life is like in the province. The rooms are simple and clean and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Saro also helped us to go around and book all the activities we wanted to do, giving us tips and advices for the most interesting things to see in the area, that aren't necessarily advertised on websites and guides. All of this made our stay in Battambang an unforgettable experience. He made us feel part of his family, even though for a short stay, and we'll remember our dinner time conversations for a long time. Hope to see you soon Saro! Andrea and Sarah
