The location cannot be beaten - centrally located so you can walk to all of the cafes, restaurants and historical sites. The building is lovely as is the period furniture (but the porcelain dolls and trinkets etc are a bit much for my taste). The outdoor pool area is very inviting and peaceful. The room was spotless, the bed very comfortable and the breakfast delicious and plentiful. Heidi was very personable but Jim gave the impression that he would prefer to be elsewhere. He was quite officious and on check in we felt like we had entered at boarding school under the gaze of nuns. The maintenance department is not on top of its game. Lots of flaky varnish and patches on the draughty windows letting in a blast of cold. Disappointingly the spa was out of action during our stay. For $350 a night, we expected more.

Freeman on Ford is a beautifully restored bank building and a lovely B&B. We stayed in the very attractive downstairs Crystal room overlooking the pool. Our hosts, Heidi and Jim could not have been more helpful both before and during our stay, and have thought of everything in terms of the design and setting up of the guest room and the shared spaces. We live interstate, but when we head again to Victoria, we will make sure we travel through Beechworth just to stay at this stunning B&B once again. Thank you Heidi and Jim for making our stay so special.

Gorgeous room and building lovingly restored by Heidi and Jim. Both owners could not do enough to make our stay the best experience. Tea and cake served whilst completing registration and breakfast order. Port and chocolates in the common areas all included. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend.

Wanted somewhere special for our 50th anniversary. Freeman on Ford was the place in beautiful Beechworth. Heidi and Jim spoiled us for our 4 night stay. The breakfasts were excellent and a good variety. Tea and cake in the afternoon and a nice glass of Port in the evening. Set in the middle of town it was handy to everything. A beautiful B & B with beautiful hosts. Thank you.

We stayed for a long weekend and loved this place! Our room was spotless and the hosts Heidi and Jim could not have been more thoughtful. We swam in their glorious pool - temperature perfect and towels provided. We accidentally left our mobile phone chargers in our room and they were expressed posted to us the same day. Freeman on Ford is centrally located so you can walk to all of the cafes, restaurants and historical sites. We highly recommend it - five star accomodation! Jo and Steve

My husband and I have just returned from a road trip taking in Beechworth and a couple of other towns. We booked into Freeman on Ford and spent 4 glorious nights there. Heidi and Jim excelled themselves in providing a 5 star bed and breakfast. If you want luxury, this is the place to go. Every tiny little detail has been thought of, from providing two luggage racks to the best breakfast personally prepared and brought to the breakfast table by Jim. There are too many details to number, but absolutely nothing has been left out. We hope to return to Beechworth next year. We have never stayed anywhere so perfect. Thank you both.

Beechworth is historic and fascinating - so is Freeman on Ford - luxurious comfort. Don't miss the opportunity to stay. You will not find better hosts than Heidi and Jim, they are so helpful, thoughtful and they love spoiling you. You won't be disappointed. And I haven't even mentioned the afternoon teas and the breakfasts!

Sensational experience all around. The room was awesome and had everything we needed while we were there. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. They provided us with great advice on local places to visit and options for our evening meal. They were particularly careful with my wife's dietary needs and provided an awesome breakfast for us both.

Heidi greeted us like long lost friends. She advised us on where to eat and also places to visit. The building is full of history with antiques and artefacts. The lounges are very welcoming with beautiful furniture and overlooking the pool. Our room was absolutely amazing and everything was spotless. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice. It was a lovely oasis to come back to after a day out.
