Super 8 Hotel (Beijing Sanlitun Taikoo Li Tuanjiehu Subway Station)

This hotel was slightly different to what we expected. The first thing to note is that this hotel is deep in a residential area which means there are no restaurants or anything other than residential buildings. The metro is not that far (7 min walk to the nearest entrance) but to get to anywhere nearby with food, the nearest mall is about 15 min walk. The room was smaller than expected with limited space to put luggage. The toilet seat has marks on it, which we initially thought was dirty but apparently its because the toilet seats are heated and this led to the discoloration of the plastic. The food is mediocre; you need to arrive early as well otherwise everything runs out. The hotel is a small hotel. There are only 2 floors and the view outside of our room was a residential block. None of thes aspects were particularly bad but it's important to know the above for anyone coming to stay here. The service from the staff were great and we could communicate well through WeChat which auto translates messages.

The hotel is conveniently located just an 8–10 minute walk from the train station. However, on our first day, it took us 45 minutes+- to find the exact location as it is hidden within a residential area. Fortunately, we were able to call the hotel staff, and they kindly walked to the street to pick us up and guide us to the hotel. The reception counter operates 24 hours, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Guests can enjoy unlimited coffee and water from the hotel. The smart AI assistant, "Xiao Du," responds to voice commands in Mandarin and is very useful for controlling room facilities. The toilet layout is well-designed, allowing one person to shower while another uses the toilet bowl. However, the upper part of the toilet partition is semi-transparent, making it suitable for couples but not ideal for travelers who are not closely acquainted.
